Molina says Ruben Amorim's hiring was driven largely by Jorge Mendes, who he stresses is close to RedBird's owners.

He claims Mendes effectively runs a catalogue and questions the fees: Gonçalo Ramos (€75M), Moreira from Strasbourg (€60M+), and Leão leaving for €40M, with Leão hard to sell over off-pitch baggage and his salary.

Milan's big investments often came through cronyism, for example Ardon Jashari, signed last year for around €40M who barely played.

“You're talking about a Brazilian going to Milan, the chance for a Brazilian to move straight to Milan after many years! He spoke with Ibra and with Modrić. Everything had been signed by all parties, by Milan, by Corinthians' legal team, by me and my lawyer, and by the player. All that was missing was the president's signature, and he decided not to go ahead. We have to respect that.

Obviously, today it's understood to have been a mistake, but in the president's head it was the right call at the time. Unfortunately André couldn't be transferred. Today he's at Corinthians, a big club, and he'll carry on his work. When everyone is sure he has to be transferred, it will happen.”
