This movie not only predicted the huge glut of superhero movies that would come out, it went beyond that and parodied it before it really existed. This was way before the MCU/DCU was a thing.
“Allow me to introduce myself: the Blue Raja, Master of Silverware.” 🍴🦸♂️ The greatest superhero of all time graced the movie theaters on this day in 1999. #MysteryMen
Jonah Hill says jiu jitsu has him ready to “annihilate” anyone who still sees him as the fat guy from Superbad
“I love Brazilian jiu jitsu, except my body is begging me not to love it. My wife is often like, ‘You’re not going to become a professional fighter. You know that, right? You’re a comedian’”
“If we got into it, I would f*ck you up. I would f*ck all three of you up”
“My favorite thing is people are like, ‘Oh, Jonah Hill, f*cking fat guy from Superbad.’ And I’m like, ‘I would f*cking annihilate you, dude. I’m not kidding you. Try it. If you see me, try it, dude. Bring it. Who’s got it?’”
“If This Is It” - Huey Lewis and the News
It became the band’s fifth Top 10 hit and their third consecutive #6 single on the Billboard Hot 100 (peaking on September 15, 1984).

A film producer has sued Netflix for $105M after the company lost an unencrypted copy of his World War II film “Fortitude,” starring Nicolas Cage and Ben Kingsley:
• Simon Afram, a Swiss businessman, wrote the script and spent seven years and $45M bringing it to the screen, according to his lawsuit
• The complaint alleges an associate producer dropped off a digital cinema package at Netflix headquarters in June so that the company could consider whether to buy the rights — but after multiple attempts to retrieve the film back, Netflix acknowledged via email that the film had been stolen

An odd CONAN moment. Sean Hayes tells this canned story about a hooker that was probably written by his manager before Norm launches into a clearly real story that Conan immediately has to stop.
The Blob is up there with The Thing as one of the best horror remakes in recent memory. Also grew up watching The Mask endlessly on VHS and always assumed it was a big studio movie, but looking back on it now it's more like a gritty independent movie that pulled off a lot
Filmmaker Chuck Russell has passed away at 74.
Chuck Russell directed The Blob & Nightmare on Elm Street: Dream Warriors in the 1980s, and later directed The Mask, Eraser, Bless the Child, The Scorpion King, and Witchboard (2025).
A horror legacy that will never be forgotten.
I am very heartened by the news that Hollywood’s Cinerama Dome and the former ArcLight multiplex are set to reopen, like a phoenix from the ashes. I spent so much time there during my years in Los Angeles and was deeply saddened when it closed in 2020.
Today it was announced that @alamodrafthouse, in partnership with Sony Pictures, will restore and reopen the legendary Cinerama Dome under its original name and branding, while the former ArcLight Hollywood complex will become the 14-screen Alamo Drafthouse Hollywood. Congratulations to Sony head honcho Tom Rothman and Drafthouse owner Tim League for leading the charge.
I have a long history with the Cinerama Dome and the ArcLight. All my movies from 'Shaun of the Dead' through 'Baby Driver' played at the Dome, and the complex was consistently the highest-grossing theater for my films. I had some very memorable Q&As there (including a rather tipsy one for 'Hot Fuzz') as well as a premiere and a Cornetto Trilogy marathon for 'The World’s End', and a whole weekend of appearances when 'Baby Driver opened'. Were you at any of them?
Driving past the site over the last few years has been really sad. It felt like an open wound for the moviegoing community, so I’m thrilled that it will return and join the newly thriving theatrical scene in Los Angeles.
I also have to give huge kudos to @SaveYourCinema, who has campaigned tirelessly for the Cinerama Dome and the ArcLight to reopen. He never gave up, and I am guessing he is extremely happy and proud this morning.
@NeillBlomkamp Makes this even funnier with the timing of The Odyssey coming out and the huge box office showing how audiences want real movies shot on location with real props and extras etc. Then pumping this turd out and not reading the room.
NIGHTBORNE is the first full test AI film I have made. It was made using Seedance 2.0.
I've been experimenting with AI for a couple of years, and it's now at the point where I want to tackle a full feature in this format. This is a 13-minute test start.
It was made with real concept artists, and features the faces and voices of 32 real people.
Barley Studios will be my new AI studio for creating my own films, the way Oats Studios was for traditional film and VFX. @Barleystudiosai
