This one started during the 2024 GOP presidential primary, when Gov. Ron DeSantis’s team reached out to me asking what I knew about Vivek Ramaswamy’s role in Gov. DeWine’s COVID response. I dug a little then. I dug more recently.

The rumor — that Ramaswamy was part of the squad that pushed for lockdowns — has grown louder as the Nov. 3 election nears.

I talked directly to Ramaswamy. I talked to sources inside DeWine’s and Husted’s camps. Three credible sources. Here’s what I’ve determined: Ramaswamy was not a member of any official committee. His role was talking primarily to then-Lt. Gov. Jon Husted — urging the reopening of the state.
