Brigitte Stegemann was 83 years old, a Christian grandmother and, according to her family, a woman who had previously refused Medical Assistance in Dying (MAID) because it conflicted with her faith.

Her family says that two days before her death, she became extremely distressed when told she was going to die, repeatedly saying that she had made a mistake. They also dispute whether she had the decision-making capacity required to consent to MAID.

Then came the most disturbing allegation.

According to her family, on the morning of July 10, 2026, Brigitte did not verbally confirm that she wanted to proceed. Her hands were reportedly clasped in prayer. The family says they believed the procedure would therefore be stopped - but it went ahead.

She died shortly afterwards.

This poor excuse for a sob story from the @nytimes attempts to bury the fact that these two individuals are CRIMINAL ILLEGAL ALIENS with rap sheets a mile long.

DHS is applying the law as written. All illegal aliens, including the two mentioned in this story, receive due process. If a judge finds that an illegal alien has no right to be in this country, we are going to remove them.

The first individual, Samson Tesfay Birhane, a criminal illegal alien from Eritrea, was arrested by ICE on March 17, 2026. Birhane has an extensive criminal history including robbery, armed criminal action, drug possession, selling cocaine, marijuana possession, theft, and credit card fraud. He entered the United States legally but lost his status after receiving a final order of removal on June 16, 2026. He received due process.

The other individual in this story, Ahmed Mahmoud Soliman, a serial criminal illegal alien from Egypt, was arrested by ICE on October 17, 2025. His criminal history includes aggravated assault of a police officer, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, shoplifting, drug possession, synthetic narcotic possession, prescription drug possession, drug paraphernalia, and tampering with evidence. He was issued a final order of removal on October 22, 2025. He received due process.

The Trump Administration is utilizing all lawful options to carry out the largest deportation operation in history, just as President Trump promised.

Florida just ripped 500 illegal aliens off the street in four days.

ICE teamed up with Florida Highway Patrol, the Lee County Sheriff, the Florida National Guard, and other partners for a weeklong surge in Southwest Florida from August 24 to August 27. Five hundred arrests. Not a press conference. A cleanup.

One of them was Whycliff Longin, a Haitian illegal the Biden crowd released into the country in 2024. Lee County deputies say he killed his aunt Amadette Longin and tried to strangle another woman in Lehigh Acres. He is charged with homicide, attempted homicide, sexual battery, and burglary with battery. ICE slapped a detainer on him the same day.

Same operation: a Mexican cartel member. A Honduran accused of molesting two children. A Guatemalan who grabbed a state trooper’s Taser and tried to turn it on him.

Every one of Florida’s 67 county sheriffs works with ICE. DeSantis built the model. Sanctuary cities fight it. Florida runs it. This is what happens when a state decides Americans come first and the law actually means something.

Sep 16: former US Army Soldier Ruoyu Duan (pics) pleaded guilty to a superseding information charging conspiracy to gather and transmit national defense information.

Between Nov 2021 and Mar 2025, within the District of Oregon and elsewhere, Duan conspired with others to surreptitiously gather sensitive military information related to the US Army’s operational capabilities, including computer equipment, training materials, intelligence reports, and technical manuals. Duan paid his co-conspirators, active-duty US Army soldiers, and others, to gather information and equipment. Specifically, they obtained information related to US military weapon systems, such as US Army combat vehicles, including the Bradley, Stryker, and HIMARS platforms, and transferred that information to people in China.

Duan served as an US Army soldier from 2013 – 2017 and was trained in the handling of sensitive and classified military information.  

On Mar 5, 2025, a federal grand jury in Portland returned an indictment charging Duan and Li Tian, an Active-Duty US Army Officer, with conspiring to commit bribery and theft of government property.

The FBI arrested Duan in Oregon on Mar 6, 2025.

Duan faces a maximum sentence of 10 years in prison, a $250,000 fine and 3 years of supervised release. He will be sentenced on Dec 10, 2026.

Federal prosecutors alleged that Duan conscripted two friends on active duty at Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state — Capt. Li Tian and Sgt. Jian Zhao — to steal national security information and then sell it to Chinese nationals.

Duan joined the Army in 2014 and was medically discharged three years later after an on-duty injury and had been collecting Veterans Affairs disability benefits at the time of his arrest.

Duan acted as a middleman, identifying those who had information of value, making introductions, brokering transactions between the soldiers and Chinese nationals and transferring money between active soldiers and Chinese conspirators.

Tian maintained security clearance and was eligible to access secret-level material. In Nov 2021, Duan introduced Tian to a person identified as M.B., who was based in Hong Kong. Tian contacted M.B. for a “job opportunity” and agreed to write a white paper about investment opportunities. On Dec 31, 2021, M.B. paid Tian $1,500 through Duan and asked Tian to write a second paper summarizing Tian’s experience managing assets for the Army.

Tian eventually stopped working directly for M.B. and began providing sensitive information to Duan through exchanges they called “lessons”. The lessons referred to sensitive Army documents and information as “teaching materials” and Duan’s payments to Tian as “tuition”.

Tian provided Duan with “open-source intelligence reports”, documents related to the Army��s Stryker Brigade Combat Teams and technical manuals for an armored vehicle. These materials were subject to distribution controls due to their sensitive nature.

Duan then transmitted information related to the national defense to M.B. and others not entitled to receive it.

Duan also connected Zhao, an active-duty sergeant, to Chinese buyers and facilitated financial transactions between Zhao and the buyers.

During a search of Duan’s Hillsboro home, investigators seized electronic devices, including cellphones and computers with 27 files containing intelligence reports that matched the descriptions of the cloud server files Tian sent Duan.

Tian and Zhao have pleaded not guilty to bribing a public official, receiving stolen government property and conspiring to gather, transmit and lose national defense information.

The day Charlie Kirk was killed, I tweeted that if our Department of Education didn't come down like a MOAB on colleges that promote "assassination culture," it would quickly spiral out of control. And it has.

We will not win this war with leaders who cannot recognize the threat, much less understand effective counterterrorism.

Reducing paperwork and handing more power to states and teachers unions isn't going to cut it.
