Robbing us of more Brandon Routh Superman screen time is maybe the most evil thing any Lex Luthor has ever done. Had me literally screaming at the screen.
A lot of people are noting nothing ever came of this, which is sadly true, but also this aired in December 2019 and then a certain worldwide actual real life crisis happened in early 2020 that made TV show crossovers near-impossible for quite awhile.
So I went to see Supergirl again just to see if my original review/ opinion changed or to see if I missed something or read too much into Kara’s character arc. There were three teen girls with their dad. As they walked past me, leaving the theater, one of them sighed “I love her!” The other two chimed in with “I know! Right!”
So I kind of don’t care if I was right or wrong at this point. That dad and his kids had a damned good time and those girls have a hero. That’s good enough for me.
Very respectable for him to come out and say this, especially so early on. They see something didn’t work, they addressed it, and remain dedicated to their overall mission. Those are the moves you want to see a CEO make.
The biggest issue with the DCEU was their parent studio being so hyper reactive and not allowing things to play out. Man of Steel doesn’t perform how they want it to and they tell Zack to put Batman in the next one instead of a standard sequel. Then they fast track a Justice League movie. Then they lose their visionary and make a bunch of solo movies. Then they almost rebooted with Keaton Batman’s universe. It was disjointed and showed they had no faith in any sort of vision.
I’m glad that isn’t the case here, and I hope they really look into what did and didn’t work for this movie so they can learn from it.
You know you can be a fan of someone and still not see them as champion. Stone cold is my favorite wrestler and he didn’t need the title all the time either. The face of the company doesn’t always have to be a champion. You are basically saying Cody Needs the belt to matter to WWE when that’s not true
