My thesis examines how Canadian news media has portrayed Asians leading up to and during the COVID-19 pandemic. Which Asians are seen, recognized and how are they constructed in news media discourse?

The @fordnation gave his caucus MPPs (mostly men) a raise of over $16,600 per year but only $780 for the mostly women who works in education. You think his MPPs work harder than your kids childcare worker? #onted#39kIsNotEnough
@jean_yoon @AwreyKevin@leahmcelrath I was denied a car rental I reserved online in St. Thomas. When I arrived they asked me for my citizenship card and status papers. Showed all my ID on hand: passport, BC provincial licenses, credit cards etc, but it wasn't enough. Didn't get the car.
@jean_yoon @AwreyKevin@leahmcelrath It's true! As a BIPOC woman, I was nervous in Chatham-Kent (and Harrow, Cottam etc) the first times. Definitely noticed when I was being watched. Every small town had people that asked me "Where are you from?" And are clearly displeased when I tell them the truth: Canada.
@therealjgutz Just reading the abstract, part of the introduction, and conclusion... I can't help, but wonder what the editor's rationale was for publishing. Might go back to review the actual methods, but it's still boggling my mind.
We're proud to partner with P&G to celebrate all AAPI names—both given & chosen. So often, biases, indifference, or unintentional mistakes in pronouncing our names can fuel “perpetual foreigner” tropes. Belonging starts with a name. Visit https://t.co/ZSgtiJNmmZ. #OurNamesBelong
@nancywyuen My nickname came from this series as it was one of the few shows that had badass Asians that weren't stereotyped model minority characters in North America. Really hoping they don't destroy the stories in it.

Joined a remote conference panel over Zoom. Didn't realise they wanted cameras on as much as possible. Just did a mad dash to replace my PJ top. Gotta looks somewhat professional on a Sunday from home. #GradLife#remoteworklife
Up late making papers on a deadline and my cat brought a live spider into my office. She then proceeded to pick it up and run toward the bedroom. Stopped her just in time. Thanks, but no thanks. #Cats
