GOVERNOR MUTFWANG CHARGES PLATEAU PILGRIMS TO DEEPEN THEIR RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD AND PRAY FOR UNITY Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has called on pilgrims from the state to use this year’s pilgrimage to deepen their relationship with God and fervently pray for peace and unity in Plateau State and Nigeria at large. Plateau State Governor, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has called on pilgrims from the state to use this year’s pilgrimage to deepen their relationship with God and fervently pray for peace and unity in Plateau State and Nigeria at large.

Addressing members of the community, which included both the indigenous Berom people and the Fulani, Governor Mutfwang, who was accompanied by the Commissioner of Police Plateau State, CP Emmanuel Adesina, called for an end to hostilities and warned individuals or groups fomenting trouble to desist. He emphasized the government’s resolve to clamp down on criminal activities and ensure peace across the state. “I want to place on record our appreciation to the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, for his commitment to the security of lives and property in Plateau State. We value this gesture, and the Plateau State Government will ensure that all resources needed to make this facility operational are provided,” the Governor stated. He appealed to the diverse communities within the area to embrace peace, emphasizing that conflict and criminality would no longer be tolerated. “I see both Berom and Fulani people here, along with other tribes who have made this community home. GOVERNOR MUTFWANG TO PROVIDE SOLAR POWER TO PRIMARY HEALTHCARE CENTRES FOR ENHANCED HEALTH SERVICE DELIVERY The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, has inaugurated the Nigeria Solar for Health Project (NISHP) to provide solar power to over 25 Primary Healthcare Centres (PHCs) across the 17 Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state. This initiative is aimed at strengthening healthcare service delivery, particularly in rural communities. Speaking at the inauguration of the project's Steering Committee, Governor Mutfwang explained that the initiative, supported by the European Union (EU), is designed to ensure uninterrupted power supply to PHCs, to enable them offer better healthcare services. “This project is a testament to our administration’s commitment to functional PHCs and access to quality, affordable healthcare at the grassroots. When we assumed office, less than 5% of the over 1,000 PHCs in the state were operational. This prompted us to award contracts for the renovation of 82 PHCs. The NISHP project will significantly improve the energy situation in the healthcare sector across the state,” the Governor stated. He emphasized the critical role of electricity in healthcare, particularly for operating diagnostic machines, storing vaccines, and preserving medicines. Governor Mutfwang expressed gratitude to the EU and NISHP for selecting Plateau State as a beneficiary, pledging the state’s full commitment to the successful implementation of the project. Earlier, Mrs. Inga Stephanowicz, Head of Section, Green and Digital Economy, EU-Nigeria, noted that the project focuses on delivering clean and renewable energy solutions to improve healthcare. She commended the Plateau State Government for fulfilling its obligation by providing 30% counterpart funding for the initiative. "Access to steady electricity is indispensable for effective healthcare delivery. Research indicates that only 40% of functional PHCs in Nigeria have regular power supply, which hinders their efficiency. The NISHP project aims to reverse this trend," she explained. Stephanowicz also revealed plans for the construction of a hydro-solar power plant at Assop Falls in Riyom LGA to complement the solar energy supply. Mr. Tinyan Ogiehor, Senior Stakeholders Engagement Manager of NISHP, added that the project will establish solar mini-grids at 25 PHCs across the state with a view to positively impacting healthcare delivery and boosting economic activities. "Beyond powering the PHCs, this project will enhance the operations of 75 small businesses located within these facilities. For this phase, at least one PHC per LGA will benefit," he said. The nine-member Steering Committee for the project is chaired by Mr. Ponzing Gamde, Executive Director of the Plateau Energy Corporation, with the Commissioner for Health, Dr. Clestus Shurkuk, serving as co-chair while the Secretary to the State Government, Arc. The Executive Governor of Plateau State, Barr. Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang, on Thursday, paid a courtesy visit to the German Ambassador to Nigeria, Her Excellency Annette Günther, to seek collaboration in key sectors, including healthcare, agricultural development, renewable energy, and peacebuilding for enhanced security.

During his visit to the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany in Abuja, Governor Mutfwang expressed appreciation to the German Government for its continued cooperation with Plateau State, particularly in capacity-building initiatives for women and youth in modern agriculture.

He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to participating in the upcoming Nigeria-Germany Cultural Exchange Program, scheduled for the second and third quarters of the year. According to him, this initiative will foster stronger ties between Plateau State and the German community, opening doors for greater collaboration.

Highlighting areas of potential cultural partnership, the Governor revealed that Plateau State is undertaking the reconstruction of the Luka Bentu Indoor Theatre, assuring that the project would receive significant attention this year.

On healthcare, Governor Mutfwang emphasized the state's desire to improve its health sector by leveraging Germany’s advanced healthcare system. He sought support for manpower training and the deployment of renewable energy solutions in health facilities to enhance disease prevention and reduce maternal mortality rates.
