Dammy Feyide returned to Nigeria, then started running creative classes for indigent and troubled children. Her intention was to do that and then return abroad after her NYSC, several years on, she is still here.

Because that idea became a private school. At Dammy’s private school, children who were once in remand and correctional homes and from poor background get to access the best of education, at no cost to them or their parents. Tuition, boarding, uniform…everything free.

Dammy Feyide is a miracle. The LISA school, LET IT SHINE ACADEMY, is an example of what is possible when a woman decides that, irrespective of what the times say, she will make a mark by giving the future a chance.

These children from marginalised backgrounds now have a shot at a great future, because someone said their future cannot reflect the already tough life they had to negotiate to get to LISA.

We must all do our bit to help LISA thrive. Dammy started it, she doesn’t need to bear all the burden of its survival. You can ask me about how to support LISA.
