Writer and maker-upper of things that just might be.

@dsantat Thank you for not writing « fit » or « tantrum ». Being a toddler in a grocery store can be overwhelming too. And thanks for the groceries. I have been that Mom.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

Phew. I do not need a brain transplant/full-time personal assistant. I actually just need to accept that a lot of things in life slip between my fingers fall into the cracks. Many surprising, wonderful things need the darkness of those cracks to develop and thrive.

It just occurred to me: if xenophobia is a thing, then xenophelia must be one, too. And it is!!! https://t.co/U6yBHRWdRO I especially love the botanical definition. Leave it to plants to have it all figured out!

This OBVIOUSLY includes blaming yourself. Extra credit if you can summarize what new insight you get from holding the issue in your hand rather than pointing an accusing finger.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

Let’s get rid of blame. It’s debilitating, alienating, and the very best way NOT to learn and find new solutions. So tweet here one time today when you were tempted to discharge your discomfort on someone else... and chose another path. #noblamechallenge

Next time I’m beating myself up over what I am not, I’m going to try to remember that even Superman isn’t good at everything. Like he probably doesn’t know how to knit. That way I can focus on leaping tall buildings in my own way. Or knitting.

I also encountered another fascinating species: the Green Capitalist. So the idea is to solve the problems caused by seeking fast growth and unlimited profit through... seeking fast growth and unlimited profit?🤔

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

No easy way to put this: I have just found out what a unicorn is and that I am definitely NOT one of them. 😢 I am something equally awesome, though: a zebra! 🦓🥳https://t.co/gwyNJ5eKvM

La la laaaa, just a’tweetin’ to myself on a Wednesday moooooorning...🎶

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

“Hmmmm...” says my inner analyst, stroking her pointy beard, “addiction metaphors, all of them backwards. What should we make of this?”

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

By the way, what’s the opposite of « cold turkey »? As in: going from zero to one hundred on a new positive behavior? “Hot turkey”?

Ever had a hangover BEFORE the party? Going to a major event tomorrow and feeling like I’ve been run over by a truck.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

@lindsaymccall I moved from the US to France in 1992. Still there.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

Try this: every time you're about to say "immigrant", say "expat". And vice versa. Word Magic.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

@LisaWKline I loved this book when I read it, and it has been walking alongside me ever since.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

Thank you for this. Working on an MG novel about incest, and... yeah. Thing is: it's happening to kids. So we need to talk about it to kids. https://t.co/7iG9TQvdKj

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

@Amfrezignac Let's face it, summer can be one giant fomo.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

@kmcmac74 Thank you! Maybe my "big topic" story will soon be sitting on your shelf, waiting lovingly for the child who needs it.

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

@kmcmac74 So grateful for this. Writing MG in English while living in Paris, it can be a challenge to keep up!

[Mirabelle Kirkland @MirabelleKirkla]

@kmcmac74 @kmcmac74 I keep thinking about this tweet. So well put. So important. Could I quote you in my next query? (Serious question)
