For under $400 you have a shot at mining a Bitcoin block and earning 3.125 BTC + fees.
Every day the Bitcoin network continues to be secured by people like you.
Some traders pay more to get their transactions processed sooner.
Aero has started testing a mechanism that could direct an additional fee from those trades to participants in its pools.
On October 30, Aero began rolling it out on selected pools on OP Mainnet. It’s called the MEV tax.
What does that actually mean?
Prices are constantly moving across exchanges. Sometimes the same asset costs less on one exchange than on another. Traders can try to profit from that difference that’s called arbitrage.
But plenty of people are looking for the same opportunity. So traders use bots and pay higher priority fees to improve their chances of getting their transactions processed sooner.
Now imagine a bot wants to swap through an Aero pool and sets a high priority fee.
In pools where the new mechanism is enabled, Aero can add an extra fee to that swap. The fee becomes revenue for the pool.
One detail matters: Aero isn’t taking the network priority fee that was already paid. It uses that fee as a signal to calculate an additional charge on the swap itself.
Who receives that revenue?
It depends on how the liquidity is deployed in the pool:
☑️If an LP position earns trading fees, the relevant share goes to the liquidity provider.
☑️ If the position is staked to earn AERO rewards, its trading fees go to the sAERO holders who allocated their power to that pool.
That means people providing liquidity or supporting the pool with sAERO could have an additional source of revenue.
Aero is starting carefully. The pilot is rolling out on selected OP Mainnet pools, and the team wants to gather data before expanding it.
How much has it generated so far? And how much will it change returns? I haven’t seen confirmed results yet. That’s what makes the pilot worth watching.
But I like the idea.
Trading creates value all around the market. Aero is looking for a way to direct more of that value to the people who help the market work.
First, new markets. Then liquidity. Now, another way to capture value from it. 🛫
Bitwise’s Matt Hougan says the median top-20 crypto asset is down 15% this year, while winners like hyperliquid:native and zcash:native push the average up 14%.
"When I see teams actually trying to make a difference and trying to innovate the trenches, that's what gets me excited."

Monday morning. 20 minutes before Wall Street opens.
Moderna on Base is already up almost 10%.
Buy? Maybe the night knows something?
I wanted to check, so I built Night Shift. It records the price of stocks on Base right before the open and waits to see what the real market says.
The first Monday answered:
the night knows which way. Not how far.
14 of 15 stocks opened the way Base was pulling them.
Moderna opened +1.2%. Not +10.
Anyone who bought $1,000 of it before the bell was holding $922 twenty minutes later.
Night Shift is live: see which stocks on Base are pricier than their last real trade right now, and which are cheaper. You can buy right there, from your own wallet.
New check every Monday.

ten weeks ago there were 4 tickers.
and the top trade isn't $AAPLc or base:0xb20000000000000000000078ee7ce2fe4908108c. it's base:0xb2000000000000000000004884b426556b92883d at 16.4%. a bitcoin company, traded by crypto people, on a crypto chain.
AAPLc, the most valuable brand on earth, does 5.9%. Sandisk does almost double that.
onchain doesn't trade the S&P. it trades what it already understands.
