The drivers of the Sumo Association in #Tangmarg along with DDC member Ishfaq Mir and some prominent social activists staged a protest at the main market, expressing their concerns over the authorities allowing private and other vehicles to transport passengers and tourists within @Gulmarg and Tangmarg. This practice is significantly impacting their livelihood. The drivers are demanding immediate action against these vehicles to protect their interests and ensure fair opportunities for all. They urge the authorities to address this issue promptly to prevent further economic hardship for the local drivers who rely on this work for their income.

I thank Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha Ji for issuing the much-awaited order regarding the change of rules for DDC Council. As was in vogue, the DDC Chairman and Vice Chairman were immune to their removal from the Council which was contrary to the spirit of democracy .However with the issue of order S.O 117 dated 19th Feb 2024 at the behest of Hon'ble LG Manoj Sinha Ji today ,the DDC Chairman and his deputy are as accountable as anyone and thus can be removed democratically .
I take this moment to congratulate my legal team which was at the forefront to get this anomaly rectified. Ultimately the democracy in these councils has prevailed.
