Yesterday we detected and contained a compromise of an employee device involving a poisoned VS Code extension. We removed the malicious extension version, isolated the endpoint, and began incident response immediately.
We are investigating unauthorized access to GitHub’s internal repositories. While we currently have no evidence of impact to customer information stored outside of GitHub’s internal repositories (such as our customers’ enterprises, organizations, and repositories), we are closely monitoring our infrastructure for follow-on activity.

Patch Preview 26.6!
Overall
- Overall, the game is looking pretty healthy in terms of balance and broad satisfaction
- Over the coming patches, we're going to be looking at some of the champs that have felt a bit unloved/worse for wear and would love to hear your suggestions (both champions and systems)
Systems
- Chempunk Chainsword has been one of the weaker Grievous items for a while. While we don't want Grievous items to become too commonplace, as it subtly degrades champion kits when too common, it is still just a bit weak for even that purpose
- The support item minion penalty has been a pain point for support users and with role quests, the risk of funneling (why it was there in the first place) has been reduced pretty significantly, so we're removing that drawback
Shen
- Shen Jungle has really started to take off recently, which is really awesome to see! (thanks xPetu!)
- That said, he is a tad strong, especially in lower levels of play
Zaahen
- We're really happy to see Zaahen picking up a sizeable audience in both Top and Jungle, but now that regular players, in addition to experienced players are starting to demonstrate that top end mastery performance, he's looking too strong across the board
- Currently, we think his Jungle is a bit stronger than Top, so the nerfs are mostly focused there
Skarner Top focus
- Skarner has been out of the spotlight for a while and since we've tapped down a few of the things that were causing him to be overbearing in Top (especially W max and the E point blank kidnaps), we think he can get a bit more power there
Olaf
- Jungle Olaf has fallen a little behind the pack so we're adding some power back
Patch 26.5 Full Preview!
Ranked EUW Test delayed for another day, we're playing it safe to land the changes without breaking anything
Volibear
- Voli changes are targeted at balancing out his AD builds vs his currently strong AP builds; needs a bit more time to land
Lillia
- We're looking to pull back on some of the previous changes and bring Lillia's power level most of the way back to where she was before
Orianna
- Changes are targeted at reducing the power level of her early laning phase, especially when sitting on Rank 1 Q for several levels
Neeko
- Neeko has been strong in Pro Play for a while while not being overly strong in regular play
- We're taking some power out of her vision outputs which are better used in Pro Play without overly impacting her regular play
Varus
- Varus was overbuffed a while ago and so we're practically reverting the buff to his Q damage
- Lethality Varus has been the strongest ADC in Pro and so we're tapping him down to not overrun the Pro meta
Patch 26.5 Preview!
Ranked EUW Test
- We ended up getting delayed and the new plan is to deploy around 6pm PST tomorrow (roughly 2-3AM EUW)
- There will be about 5-10m of Ranked downtime, so we're doing this in off peak and monitoring that things are working correctly
First Stand on 26.5
- We made a significant number of changes on 26.4 and so 26.5 is a more conservative set of changes to ensure a good Pro meta for First Stand
- Ori, Azir, Neeko, Lethality Varus are some of the strongest outliers in Pro Play currently, and so we're tapping them down
Items
- Hubris is looking just generally underpowered
- It doesn't really have an audience and also doesn't exhibit the same properties that other snowball items like Mejais have (higher winrates because being purchased when snowballing)
- Bandlepipes is looking pretty strong, especially on second item. Locket is one of its primary competitors so we're giving it a buff on second item by flatting some of the shield value
Patch Followups
- Lillia is looking a bit worse for wear after her buffs in a previous patch were over magnitude, so we're giving her a bump back up (it may end up getting delayed to a future patch if we need more time to land on a higher quality changelist, but haven't decided)
- We're looking to see what Mel looks like at a higher power level after making some of the frustration lowering changes in 26.3

Ryze
- Ryze's resurgance in the last few months has increased visibility on R's prediction behavior. This behavior is frequently difficult to predict and often doesn't teleport champions when it feels like it should
- We're removing this functionality as it leads to overall less predicatability around Ryze R behavior
Dusk and Dawn, Gwen & Kayle
- While we nerfed several other Dusk and Dawn users, Gwen has floated to be one of the better ones; we're tapping her done a bit as a result
- Kayle also falls into a similar boat
- We're overall pretty happy with the state of Dusk & Dawn; it's a popular item with a strong fantasy and after this patch, we hope it's a balanced item with an appropriately sized user base
Manamune Kassadin
- We're thrilled to see Kassadin finding a new fun build to play; unfortunately he's a bit too strong both with and without it, so we're tapping him down
- The early game changes to let him get back to lane a bit faster has made punishing him a bit more difficult and so he'll have to work a bit harder to access those 2 and 3 item spikes he used to
Rengar
- Rengar's had a good number of bugs fixed on 26.2 that added quite a bit of power and consistency to him; we're pulling a bunch of that back as he's a bit too powerful for Elite players in particular
ADC's & Senna
- We're trying a niche for Hexoptics where it is positioned as a greedy 3rd full damage item for Crit users when they don't need LDR (or post LDR)
- Jinx and Twitch are receiving durability nerfs in the mid-game to keep some of their damage fantasies intact, but create sharper tradeoffs if they misposition
- Aphelios is still one of the stronger ADC's, even after a hotfix nerf in 16.1; just a generic nerf here to bring power level down
- Samira's BT build is significantly worse for wear, especially after the changes to Crit; so this adjustment is intended to bring some of that build variety back
- Xayah has been out of the meta for quite a while; we're trying to ease her reliance on Essence Reaver procs in order to open up a bit more build variety for her. Additionally, her damage output is just superseded by several of her contemporaries, so increasing her W uptime will help her be competitive relative to the pack
- For Senna, in Support, her Enchanter builds have been on average a bit too strong relative to her AD builds and so we're trying to make that balance a little more AD skewed
- We like the Enchanter build being viable, but AD should be the stronger one for her fantasy
Patch 26.3 Preview!
This is a huge patch after we've had a bit of time to assess how things have landed and things have taken some time to settle. Will go more in depth about champion changes tomorrow, especially the jungle changes.
Ranked
- We're triaging a few things related to Apex negative LP gains that we're seeing in a few regions (+17/-23 kind of things)
- We're also looking at some duo queue adjustments for literally top 20 challenger levels of duos to make those a bit more balanced
- As a reminder, these things that we've been posting about recently with the Ranked ladder don't affect 99.9% of Ranked players, but matter a lot to the Masters+ crew and we're still trying to fine tune behavior here
- I'm going to write more of a detailed Masters+ retro about some of the considerations that went into the changes this year as well as some of the follow up changes we're doing in a few days, especially after validating some of the hunches for the cause of the negative LP gains
Game Metrics
- We've seen game snowballiness continue to stabilize lower than Season 15 values
- Game times are also coming down a bit back to S15 values
- As discussed in a previous preview though, players feel like downtime is down and so feel like the game is faster. On the flip side, there are many players saying that this Season feels really fun and part of that is due to how much action is going on
- We're going to let it ride a bit though, as it seems like players are getting used to a new normal here and at least a good portion are finding it more fun
- What we are changing though is how much players are worth for repeat kills on a player who is not worth that much; we reduced this in 26.1 but are pulling it back a bit
- At the same time, we're investigating what communicating this state looks like on the scoreboard, but have a pretty strong aversion to cluttering up the scoreboard with a lot of exact numbers; nothing to share back yet on that front, but doing some investigations
Towers & Objectives
- There's been a lot of discussion about how threatening first Baron is and also a bit about how much damage junglers do to objectives
- We're not planning to change a lot here on 26.3, but may change some of these dynamics for 26.4 after observing more
Vision
- With early game faelights and slower first clears, early ganks have been a bit harder to come by
- We're pushing back early game yellow trinket cds back to S15 values (170 >>> 210s) to make warding a bit less "free" and early ganks a bit more successful on average
Items
- There will be more detail on the item changes tomorrow with full preview, but I just wanted to talk about 2 ahead of time
- Actualizer (which is currently only a Ryze item) is getting a buff to be viable on more users. At the same time though, Ryze is getting nerfed
- The entire package is intended to be a net negative to Ryze and he's getting nerfed indirectly by a lot of changes this patch
- Dusk & Dawn has been a super hot topic!
- We don't think Dusk & Dawn is overpowered overall, but there are champions that synergize very well with it that will ultimately be hard bound to it
- This is totally fine though; plenty of champions love and are hardbound to certain items and we hope that D&D is one of those that those users find very satisfying
- This is ultimately why we're choosing to nerf the champions that predominantly purchase the item, while still leaving it viable for the fringe users
- Having said that, we think the item power budget and shape is a bit off
- D&D was intended to be less damage-y and more bruisery than its other AP sheen counter part - Lich Bane
- We're adjusting its profile (+HP, -Damage) to better suit this
