@MrsNovak2 Didn’t even know this happened. I’m so happy to hear this and so proud of her!! Thank you for capturing such big moments for our learners! ❤️
Love the modeling and explicit expectations set with writing in @Miss_Smith28’s class! Can’t wait to read the finished books! 📕 🦅 #OurElmwood@elmwoodes
So proud of @Miss_Smith28 empowering her 1st graders! This ⭐️ listened again to clarify her research which she shared with me. Such an independent, motivated learner! 🙌🏻 Keep SOARING #OurElmwood readers! 💚
#OurElmwood fabulous first graders, worked hard to practice skills independently. Great step for small groups in @Miss_Smith28’s class family. 😍@elmwoodes
What a wonderful world 💚✨
Descriptive words from Louis Armstrong helped paint vibrant images in our minds today. Probably my favorite way I’ve ever taught imagery.
So many vivid drawings which will lead us into our descriptive writing this unit!

One of my favorite parts about #ConsciousDiscipline is the Time Machine.
It’s never too late to repair conflict with a classmate when you can go back in time with the Time Machine.
Students role played scenarios, and navigated the steps to repair. @elmwoodes
#OurElmwood has some writers in the house!!
Not only were our writers’ stories detailed, labeled, and sequenced, they were so enjoyable.
To make it BETTER the audience was actively listening, engaged, and had insightful questions for our authors.

Counting by 5s but make it nickels!
Teaching the class but make it student led!
Loved how eager students were to jump at the opportunity to lead their classmates in this skip-counting warm-up.

First week of first grade: ✔️
During math all week, students practiced skip counting by 2s and recognizing mathematical patterns in their work. They made their own paper twin pops and then after all their hard work, enjoyed their own twin pop! 💚
