Borneo Diaries 🇲🇾 23–27 July, Pt. 2 – The Caves
After 3 days of hard graft, we hiked to the stunning Batu Caves. A tough climb, but the view—and the jade-lit caverns—were worth every step. Only 100 tourists a year see this. Unforgettable.

Borneo Diaries: 23–27 July
We built a rainforest footpath in Lobang Batu to support local tourism. Tough work, but our students were amazing—hiking daily, mixing cement, clearing paths, and creating a plaque to mark it. So proud! 🌿💪 #DeaneryPROUD

To end our Lobang Batu homestay, we were invited to a beautiful Sunday church service. Live hymns, a clear message of love, and a school blessing made it unforgettable. Students donated 300 MR to support the church and community. A perfect farewell! 🙏✨

Final sunrise at Bako, shell collecting, and a thrilling speedboat ride back to Kuching. Semenggoh was unforgettable—6 orangutans spotted, including a mother and baby. Emotions ran high. Tomorrow: our community initiative begins! #livinglifeinallitsfullness

Team Borneo is thriving at Bako National Park—camping, hiking, and soaking up stunning beach views! Despite 94% humidity, spirits are high. Jack G is our macaque defender, Hannah-May keeps us grounded, and Aaron C leads the treks. Only day 5! 🌴☀️

What a year! It has felt like a whole lifetime has passed in the blink of an eye! First Y11s through their GCSEs, first Ofsted…I have cried on many occasions, and laughed on even more. I am so lucky to spend my days working with an amazing team and absolutely fab students 🥰

Saturday/Sunday: 60+ students on their D of E Bronze qualifying expedition.
I’m exhausted but weeks like this remind me exactly why I love my job 💜
