🚨 Since January 1, 2026, every man aged 17–45 in Germany needs official approval from the Bundeswehr to leave the country for longer than three months.

The new regulation, part of the Wehrdienst-Modernisierungsgesetz, requires prior permission from the responsible career center for any extended stay abroad (studies, work, travel, etc.).

Officially, it’s about keeping track of potential conscripts — even though mandatory military service is currently suspended.
