What a race the Dewhurst was and what a performance by Darkness Falls. To prick an ear at the furlong poll while under pressure, how much does that suggest he has in the tank 🤩
Darkness Falls delivers for Aidan O'Brien 🤩
With Ryan Moore on board, they take out the Darley Dewhurst Stakes at @NewmarketRace 💚

Knock Mourns Lily Slattery, the Young Showjumper Taken Days After Her 16th Birthday
Lily Slattery, a 16-year-old showjumper from Drum, Knock, Co. Mayo, has died, days after her 16th birthday. Her death on Monday, 5 October, has been marked across the west of Ireland by postponed equestrian fixtures and a large funeral in her home parish.
Lily was laid to rest today after Mass at St John the Baptist Church in Knock. Family, friends and schoolmates filled the church. Her sister Morgan-Mai spoke, asking those gathered not to cry only because Lily was gone, but to smile because she had been here. Among the symbols brought forward were her showjumping rosettes, her Samshield hat and jacket, a family photograph, pictures of her horses, and the collar of her dog, Bonnie.
Lily was already well known on the regional circuit. Earlier this year she was overall champion at the Irish National Showjumping awards weekend in Mullingar. She received the Equestrian Award at the 2025 Connaught Telegraph Mayo Young Sportstars Awards, and in August she qualified for the Dublin Horse Show on Captain Candyman, a horse owned and bred by her grandfather Gabriel Slattery. At 15 she had been the youngest competitor in her young-rider class.
Showjumping Ireland’s Connaught Region described her as an exceptional competitor whose determination “defied her tender years,” and said every round was ridden with courage and passion. Claremorris Equestrian postponed its Arena One Day Event as a mark of respect; other fixtures in the region were also cancelled.
Lily is survived by her parents, Gillian and Christy, her sisters Morgan-Mai and Ruth-Elle, her grandparents, and a wide circle of family and friends. She was predeceased by her grandmother Phil Slattery and her uncle Barry Byrne.
Public notices have not stated a cause of death. What they do record, and what the tributes repeat, is a short life spent close to horses and to the people who rode and trained with her.

CLEAN SWEEP TRIGGERS WINDFALL IN CORK 😀
A horse racing punter in County Cork has landed a sensational five-figure payout after picking every single winner on the card at Galway on Tuesday in an extraordinary clean sweep.
The lucky winner struck a €0.10 each-way Super Heinz with BOYLE Sports, meaning they parted with a total stake of €24.
The investment looked increasingly wise as the winners continued to rack up, with
Direct Approach, backed at 5/1, getting the remarkable streak underway in the 1.45. Inthenickoftime (7/4) quickly followed, while the winning run continued with Fire Coral (5/1), Road To Home (5/1), Springboard (7/1) and Ballagh Star (4/1) all reaching the winners’ enclosure.
That left the savvy punter just one winner short of an astonishing jackpot, and Tomahawk Juke duly completed the coup in the 5.15, defying a significant market drift from 4/1 to 11/1 to seal a remarkable seven from seven.
The BOYLE Sports Best Odds Guarantee ensured the haul was boosted to the tune of €50,000, meaning the punter transformed their stake into a mammoth total of €80,248.57.
Japan is the same kind of country.
We eat a lot of pork.

We drink a lot too.
Beer. Sake. Shochu.
Islam does not fit here.
Do not come to Japan.
You are not welcome.
As Peadar rightly points out "People cannot go to the United States and live primarily on social welfare. You cannot move to Australia or Sweden and live on welfare. This is true for most countries. Ireland is an outlier in these terms" End this practice. #aontucork#commonsense
