@stacey_birchall I’ve struggled for years. I wear Nike air force ones whenever I’m not in school and then thick soled shoes in school and on days with a bad flair up, I just have my trainers with me. Mine has started to ease now and not even wearing the trainers out of school anymore.
@mrlockyer If the whole year group is in an exam I might get some gained time if they miss my lesson. Often leads to covering another subject so they can do last minute revision. Once they all finish, I get some gained time to do TLR work but of the 10 gained, I will be used for most.
@ShakinthatChalk@TeacherTapp I think it would depend on the topic I’m teaching. Algebraic Graphs and representing data I would be screwed if tech went last minute but fairly certain anything else I could make up on the spot.
@teacherhead I have a box for each class and they can choose to leave them if they want. Their book is their responsibility. Most choose to leave at school and just take it home one night in the week (of their choice) to complete their homework.
@_MissWhiteMaths We do a DIRT task every 2-3 weeks. As long as there is 2 or 3 in there each half term we are ok. I used to work in a school where books had to be marked every day but no one could explain to me how to “mark” them and it became ticking and flicking which was pointless
@ShakinthatChalk Based on a particular student I teach who was incredible last year in bottom set but lost all confidence in a mixed set. I say high performing in a lower set.
@DeputyGrocott Relationship with students. For the first year in a long time, the classes I have are some of those I had last year. Some I’ve have 3 years. It’s much more seamless that I’ve been able to hit the ground running rather than get expectations and routines in place.
@MrMetacognition I like to teach new year 7s common denominators but I am in the minority in my department so when I teach older students, I use KCF or reciprocals as this is what they know.
