@alomshaha Except for the fact that I’ve wanted to be a teacher since before I can remember (except the Physics bit - that would have been weird for a 3 yr old), this resonates so much. Especially university being such a switch & my teacher persona being the best version of myself - preach!

@miss_mcinerney Try to cut down on caffeine and alcohol (I went for the former 😂), sleep with your bed propped up and warm up before talking. But the only thing that solved it for me was the enforced vocal test of schools shutting during the pandemic!

@miss_mcinerney Like someone else said further up the comments, it could be silent acid reflux - it’s pretty common in singers and teachers (and I’m both!). Potentially worth asking to be referred by your GP as they can check for nodules etc, and you might be able to get some speech therapy.

@DrDavidBoyce @mxcharlier Definitely this! I’m in my 9th year & going through the transition to working more and more with just a pen and the board, especially for sixth form teaching. But I do find ppts super useful for planning purposes and SOWs, and (not so secretly) still quite enjoy making them...

Yes - this! Many of my Y12s this year are really feeling the lack of that concentrated revision time that solidifies GCSE content. Nothing is quite as motivating to learn the key content needed to succeed at A-level as the fear of a public exam...

Exams don’t just provide grades. The revision process is a key part of education as pupils retrieve and apply years of learning within and between subjects. Whatever replaces exams this year must ensure a meaningful experience for y11 and y13 pupils.
