A surprize postscript to the Thrush Green novels came with the publication of 'Christmas at Thrush Green' in 2009. This was written in conjunction with Miss Read and her editor Jenny Derham. #MissRead

However, this was not quite the end of the story. The BBC had bought the rights to the 'Thrush Green' novels and six of the stories were dramatised and broadcast on BBC Radio 4 in the late Spring and early Summer of 1999. #MissRead

A Peaceful Retirement was illustrated by Andrew Dodds.

Miss Read had planned to continue to write about Thrush Green but eyesight problems over the next few years precluded this from happening.

Miss Read becomes involved in various projects including writing a short history of the church. #MissRead
