Erin Slayton, #Abington high school teacher & entrepreneur, watched her dream of an artist’s studio go up in smoke when the detached garage @ her #Taunton home caught fire. She makes handmade jewelry & preserves flowers @ her business Pocket of Sunshine. She’s vowing to rebuild.
As a first-gen student, I've always known that other students with legacies in academia or family histories of college education have inherent advantages over me, but I don't think I've ever been able to see and understand that as clearly as today.
@WestfieldState@WBUR @tiziana_dearing @RadioBoston So proud to have been interviewed by WBUR, and especially to have done so with a fantastic teacher, former WSU student, Erin Slayton @MissSlay77 !!!
Be sure to tune in to @WBUR at 3 p.m. where #WestfieldState English Professor Sophia Sarigianides
will be speaking with @tiziana_dearing of @RadioBoston about her anti-racist work in the ELA classroom.
Only day 3 and the brainstorms are already poppin!🧠👩🏽🏫🫀✨📖✍🏽
What have we missed???
Why do we tell stories???
What purpose do they serve???
