Thank you @CostaCoffee Quedgeley for kindly donating cups for Year 1's trip to the local nature reserve. We sat enjoying a hot chocolate whilst listening to woodpeckers! It was a memorable experience that will really aid the children's writing this term. #Quedgeley#community
I am blown away by the children's Hundertwasser artwork this afternoon @beech_green Simple line techniques and bold colors look so effective! Can't wait to get them up on display!
It's been a super busy week for Year 1. Some great activities with Y6 buddies...Learning to tell the time...Gardening club have been getting stuck into some weeding...in science we've investigated why trees have bark, amongst so many other things! Time for a rest this weekend!
It's been such a busy term, I've hardly had time to tweet! Here's a selection of what Year 1 have been up to recently. A phenomenal amount of learning. They are just a super smart bunch ❤
@thosethatcan Couldn't agree more. I've had a couple of other professions before teaching. They all came with a "busyness" unlike another's "busyness". The rewards are unique too.
A note on safeguarding, for any trainees or newer teachers following me.
Report everything. Flag up everything. Filling in a safeguarding form is not "a big deal". Just do it. That thing you noticed that's "probably nothing" could be the key piece in a broader picture.
Eureka moments are why I love this job. Someone went from really struggling with the idea of part-part-whole, to fixing problems and absolutely smashing verbal reasoning questions this week ("the part can't be bigger than the whole") And we got to draw on the table!
Smidge stole our @numberblocks and held them to ransome! We had to guess which number block was in each parcel. We cracked it though and got to open them up. Phew!
