When your trying to eat healthy and get served with samosas, namak para, French fries with masala chai at an event! 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ Managed to contain myself and had 1 samosa n a cup of chai.
Who would have thought, a decade ago, during the initial advent of Trumpism, that support for immigration would be souring far more in Canada than south of the border, where many influential voices remain enthusiastic and supportive?
We're not quite the beacon of the world we imagined ourselves to be during the False Renaissance of the 2010s, are we?
And no, this isn't simply about housing, infrastructure, abuse of pathways, or any of the other familiar explanations. Those are surface-level analyses.
Look south.
Diasporas are helping power world-beating technology firms, AI companies, research institutions, Olympic teams, and more.
I'm already seeing plenty of Mandarin, Tamil, and other immigrant-origin names at the very top.
Can we remotely say the same north of the border?
Do we offer our diasporas anything comparable to rise toward? Any project of sufficient scale, ambition, or consequence to attract and retain the most capable among them?
Before we wring our hands about a huge influx of people of what we consider "less than stellar" calibre arriving from "less than desirable" parts of the world, perhaps we should ask a more uncomfortable question: what if the problem isn't them, but us?
As the search of the next Bond heats up, my vote for the next James Bond after Daniel Craig would be John Abraham. He has the cool ‘shaken not stirred’ persona and certainly good actor with the ‘Bond Charm’
By the way Daniel Craig was cast as James Bond after the producers saw him in my film Elizabeth.

PM Modi said people to do work from home, stop buying gold, stop going on foreign vacations, cut fuel uses, all this to stop rupees from falling.
An open letter.
Work from home - Modi ji you're in power, you've to make law otherwise companies HR, real estate Mafia will not agree for WFH
Stop buying gold - Modi ji, please guarantee that central banks won't buy gold either otherwise gold price will keep going up and common public will have to buy at higher prices later.
Stop going on foreign vacation: Modi ji, I hope you're aware of our public infra, we don't even have clean public toilets at most of the tourist places in India, there is a reason why people are forced to go out of country for vacation.
Cut the fuel uses: Modi ji, have you seen condition of public transport? Trains tickets are not available, metro last mile connectivity aren't there, no restriction on cabs surge pricing, you think people use private vehicles just for luxury? No, they're forced to do that.
Be it demonetization, Lockdown or Covid, everytime Govt is in trouble, you ask public to support and they do but what about Govt? People vote Govt so that they work peacefully, pay tax and Govt work for people not the other way around. You're in power for 12 years and that's a lot of time.
And how about reducing LTCG, STCG and STT to attract FII flow, that will also help rupees to get stronger, atleast you start first.
Congratulations to you. Children are innocent and lovable. Those 168 children that your boss killed in the school in Minab, and you justified, were also children. When you kiss your baby, think of the mothers of those children.
@MykhailoRohoza Sadly looks like the people and the Senate either don’t see it or don’t care anymore. Honestly this is not the USA the world knows anymore.
@peeleraja When you invite a guest to a meal at your residence, it is mehman nawazi to be aware of your guests food tastes too. Fine, don’t serve non veg, but surely Indian veggie food is way more delicious ? Have you forgotten #AthithiDevoBhava ?
We had 2 large beds in our bedroom. I slept in 1 w/2 kids n hubby on the queen size. When they grew older, n we moved, we put 2 mattresses for them n we on a bed. Kids adults now and still so close to us. Cosleeping is always good.
A kid drew himself sleeping in bed between mom and dad and labeled it 'safe.'
In Japan, this exact sleeping arrangement has a name. They call it 'the river.' Mother is one bank. Father is the other. The child between them is the water. Roughly 70% of Japanese mothers sleep this way with their kids, sometimes through the teenage years. The Western model of putting a kid alone in their own bedroom is barely 200 years old. For most of human history, in most cultures still alive today, kids slept beside their parents.
James McKenna runs the Mother-Baby Behavioral Sleep Lab at Notre Dame. He spent decades watching what happens when parents and kids share a bed. The bodies sync up. Heart rates align with the parent's, breathing falls into the same rhythm, and by morning even sleep stages have started matching. The parent's body, in McKenna's words, acts as a kind of biological jumper cable for the child's.
In 2013, researchers in the Netherlands tracked 193 babies through the first year of life. They measured cortisol, the brain's main stress hormone. Babies who had spent more weeks co-sleeping in the first six months produced less cortisol under stress at 12 months. Sleeping near a parent had rewired the kid's stress system to be calmer under pressure.
Inside the kid's brain at night, the amygdala, the fear alarm, gets more sensitive as the body gets tired. Darkness makes it worse. A 2021 paper in PLoS One from Australian researchers showed that light directly suppresses amygdala activity. Lights off, alarm louder. The whole brain is wired to read 'alone in a dark room' as a threat.
Now add a parent's body to that bed. The kid's nervous system reads warm body, breathing nearby, familiar smell. The threat alarm dials down. Two parents on either side dial it down twice. The drawing is the kid's brain calculating maximum safety: I am surrounded by the people who keep me alive, and nothing can reach me without going through them first.
The arrangement in this drawing is what most of human history called 'sleeping.' Sleeping the kid alone in another room is a 200-year-old Western invention that we forgot was an invention. Every kid who has ever padded into your room at 3am and crawled into the middle of the bed is just trying to redraw the picture.
You were a simple spokesperson of the party.
The only thing you have done is go to TV channels and speak.
Kejriwal trusted you and gave you an MP ticket from Delhi.
You lost.
He then offered you a safe seat and campaigned for you to make you an MLA.
You were never involved in ground politics, but still Kejriwal gave you more than what you deserved just because of trust.
AAP won Punjab, and as you were a good speaker and a trusted party person, you were offered a Rajya Sabha MP position.
As a young MP, you married a Bollywood film star, and at the same time, the top leadership was raided and arrested by ED on the instructions of Ranga Billa.
Here is where things changed.
Your name was also in the chargesheet. Like others, it was confirmed that you would have to go to jail and be deprived of the luxuries that you are used to.
You used your wife's family BJP connections to stay away from arrest and ran to London.
You came back with a condition that you would not speak anything against BJP, but as an opposition leader, it was not possible.
You started picking topics to build your career as a young Gen Z-style politician using PR agencies.
But you got exposed, and people now understand what your motives were.
You can't leave politics because your Bollywood wife can't just be the wife of a jobless CA with zero experience.
You can't stay in AAP without doing AAP-style politics. You can't speak against Modi.
You have only one option, and that was to leave AAP and join BJP. But that would mean that you would have to lose your RS membership.
You held a few meetings and planned ED raids on people whom you could pressure to come along with you to make your defection safe.
You have saved your marriage and RS seat, but in the end, you have sabotaged your image and the trust of thousands of volunteers who made you what you are today.
Just three words for you.
SHAME ON YOU.
