At just 13 years old, Karen Wanjiru Kimani has already planted and documented over 50,000 trees. From inspiring young people to speaking at COP27 & COP28, she’s proving that age is never a limitation when it comes to protecting our planet 🌍💚.

"Growing up 2km from Kakamega Forest sparked a love for the forest." Today, that love has grown into clearing 4 ha of guava invasion in the forest, growing indigenous trees, promoting community-led conservation, and bringing environmental education to schools near the forest.
Happy World Biodiversity Day 🌍
At Miti Alliance, we restore biodiversity through Miyawaki forests. So far: 19 Miyawaki forests across 7 counties in Kenya & 56,300 trees planted. Through kitchen gardens, we also promote agricultural biodiversity and food sustainability.
Mangroves are among nature’s strongest climate defenders, capturing up to 10x more CO₂ than tropical rainforests. That’s why the restoration work by @BlueEarthOrgan1 matters: restoring ecosystems, supporting local communities, and empowering women & youth through climate action.
1.5°C was the line.
We’re crossing it, and Kenya is already feeling the impact. From unpredictable rains to prolonged droughts, climate action can’t wait. Join us in Kakamega Forest this #WorldEnvironmentDay as we plant trees, explore the forest & engage in meaningful dialogue.
Kakamega Forest is a living home of biodiversity. This World Environment Day (5-7 June), we’re planting 1,000 indigenous trees to restore nature. Join us in greening Kenya 💚. #WorldEnvironmentDay#KakamegaForest#NowForClimate
We are also welcoming donations and support towards this initiative.

As someone who truly loves trees, this is incredibly inspiring. 🌱 What Teddy has achieved is more than business it’s restoring ecosystems, conserving energy, and giving future generations hope. Distributing over 65 million indigenous seedballs across Kenya is a remarkable contribution to our environment. Keep growing the green dream. Kenya needs more people like this. @together4treesK@TreesforStreets@onemillion_tree@SilasOrumba@savethecreation@save_mau@FAOForestry@ForestNature226
Teddy grew up making energy-saving jikos with his dad and learned the importance of planting trees. Today, he has helped distribute over 65M indigenous tree & grass seedballs across Kenya, and their energy-saving Cookswell Jikos are now used in over 40 countries worldwide.
Throwback to #WorldEnvironmentDay 2023; reconnecting with nature through agroforestry, beekeeping, hiking, tree planting and lots of fun!
Join us at Kakamega Forest, 4th–7th June for #WED2026.
We’re proud to share the progress of our Nyariginu Kitchen Garden project.
“During the April holiday, we had a good experience watering the garden and weeding. The best part is that we got vegetables to take home and this made me very happy.”

As CKL Africa marked Earth Day, 15 yrs of Eco Care and 120 yrs of impact, we joined in restoration efforts. With Kinale Community Forest Association & @KeForestService, we planted 5,500 trees + 100 fruit trees in a fire-affected landscape - restoring hope, one tree at a time 🌳.
