Every athlete knows….

One day they are going to have to hang up their cleats.

Every athlete has gone thru ups and downs in their career to get to that last game…

….that last at-bat.

Tonight, @parkerbyrd11 had his final AB of his final game.

Instead of “taking” ball 4 of a 3-1 count…

He swung.

Parker���s final AB was a single to left field… just 24 hours before he his a 💣 to left field.

This isn’t the end of Parker’s journey…

This isn’t even the end of the beginning…

He has used his platform in ways that I could never have imagined… and will continue to surpass our own expectations.

Parker…. Thank you for showing us all what it means to face adversity head on, with faith in God, a positive attitude, and a big smile on your face.

You have more people pulling for you than you could ever know…

Keep swinging baby… we love you brother.

Next stop… the Olympics.

For those that haven’t been following the story of @parkerbyrd11 the last few years….

One single post could never do it justice.

It was officially announced by Coach Godwin on Monday that this will be P’s last year in an @ECUBaseball uniform.

I go back and reread DMs and texts with @Jbyrd41718 starting a few days after the accident…. It’s like reliving a nightmare.

But throughout the unthinkable… there was ALWAYS faith.

ALWAYS faithful…. Even while going thru the valley (and those valleys were deep/dark).

He has attacked EVERY aspect of his recovery…. And using his platform to the glory of God.

A few months ago, P started taking up a new sport. He has been working with former long time ECU Track and Field coach David Price developing new movement patterns, and is slowing building the foundation to accelerate his training.

Parker will be moving out to San Diego CA to go to Grad School…. And train.

I fully expect Parker Byrd to represent the United States in the Paralympics! Yes… I said it… and when that happens, I can’t wait to see how many of Pirate 🏴‍☠️ Nation join he and his family wherever that Olympics is!

He and his circle have taken “Why Me”…. And turned it into “Why Not Me”

Can’t wait to see where life takes him in the future…

But the NOW… is finishing out his collegiate Baseball Season, and being a leader on this team.

Take a look at a few clips from Coach Price’s videos showing his progression. Notice how dark it is outside…. Parker’s schedule is absolutely insane (fulltime baseball, school, speaking engagements, being a college kid…. And learning for a new sport… from scratch)! Also, shoutout to David Price… one of the best humans in the world!

It’s WAY bigger than just an RBI

Somewhere around the country…
a parent is walking to their child’s room with tears in their eyes…

To show them a video of someone who looks like them… doing things that they never thought they could.

But it’s not just about those other kids or families….

I think it’s easy for people to pull for PB because they always see his big smile, and positivity…

The truth is… PB probably needed that win much more than we could ever know.

We’re proud of you brother… and love you.

Keep grinding baby.

You have more people supporting you than you could ever imagine.

We still have more steps to take.
