I can't believe ST did a season-long arc of a lesbian assuming her crush wasn't like her bc she had a bf but it turned out she WAS reading signals correctly & the girls got together. & then they applied none of that to the gayest dynamic in the show bc they hate will THAT much
i cant believe the costuming was a reference to the eternal sunshine of the spotless mind and for what. like Fuck you for even trying to reference it bitch
@khrunchie im still pissed asf like why would they do that, both mike and will have never worn anything like that before, im pretty sure the costuming was intentional because the duffers said to watch it before season 5, why reference it for no reason
can you imagine if max couldn't say ily to lucas but was opening up to dustin, saying hawkins isn't the same without him and she feels like she lost him, all the while staring at his lips
Nah but Gummigoo has to be Caine's biggest nightmare
A literal proof that some members of the circus are actually fine with being friends with NPCs and "not real" people like him, which shows that the problem ultimately lies with him
I believe Mike and El's relationship was so garbage because Mike indeed did care about El a lot. Going off of what Lucas said in s1 about Mike being happy that a girl is not grossed out by him, you can tell that Mike was desperate to conform because he knew he wasn't like like the other boys around him. If he'd started dating some random girl in his class, he'd have played the part of the "good boyfriend" much longer just to fit in. Mike and El's relationship grows sour as they spend time apart between s3 and s4, because then he truly starts reflecting on his sexuality and accepts that he's lying to El. He feels guilty about it because he cares about her and empathises with everything she has been through. He knows she deserves better. He was the one who found her and helped her fit into their friend group and social circles. El's entire life at this point revolves around the people Mike introduced her to, and it's based on a lie. And this guilt crushes him.
And as much as we want to push the narrative that Mike didn't care about her, we never actually see him mistreat her unless it's about Will. He lashes out at her only when Will is in danger. He ignores her when he thinks Will needs him more. It's not that he didn't care about her, she just wasn't his #1 priority. And he struggles with that a lot.
Again, had it been a random girl he met in Hawkins, he'd have treated her much better because it'd have been easier to lie.
Platonic El/Mike would've been a really good duo to watch because both of these people care about each other deeply on a fundamental level, just not in the way that society expects them to. Forced conformity is killing the kids, and Eddie Munson haunts every narrative in Stranger Things.
@madibyler crazy thing is mike never even said he was scared saying ily would make losing el hurt more... will said that's how el felt and mike copied it in his speech im cryinggg 😭 bro still has not explained himself in a calm moment where lives don't actively depend on his love 😑
so wild that steve and el were both begging nancy and mike to say they loved them and they both couldn’t. nancy was in love with jonathan, and mike was just… scared???
except Mike calling El a superhero does not exist in the vacuum. It’s not a cute little nickname that makes her giggle and twirl her hair. It’s something that he says to her, the worst thing he could say, during an argument where she feels that Mike does not love her 1/?
