Watching the Ghetto Kids @ghettokidstfug perform alongside @shakira at the FIFA World Cup is truly humbling.

As we celebrate this incredible milestone and their wonderful display of talent on the world stage, it’s only fitting to pay tribute to the group’s founder and trainer, Dauda Kavuma; musician @eddykenzoficial; the pioneering first cohort of the Ghetto Kids; and everyone who has shaped their journey to this moment.

For those who may not know, about 12 years ago Eddy Kenzo released his hit song Sitya Loss. Five young stars, Patricia, Bashir, Alex (RIP) and siblings Fred and Allan..danced to it and the clip was uploaded to YouTube. It quickly went viral and later featured in the official Sitya Loss music video with Eddy Kenzo. The rest, as they say, is history.

What has been most inspiring isn’t just that one viral moment, but the consistency, discipline, resilience, and hard work that followed with the different cohorts of the ‘ghetto kids’. They turned an opportunity into a legacy and continue to show the world what Ugandan talent can achieve.

Congratulations to the Ghetto Kids, the group’s founder Dauda Kavuma, Eddy Kenzo, and everyone who believed in them from the very beginning. Uganda is proud
