@BookofBogan @abcbrisbane Luckily, paper straws are not the only option. There are starch based (think cellulose), oxo-degradable food safe plastics on market now. Overseas I read bamboo based, and wheat based straws.
@abcbrisbane I was given a piece of plastic cutlery embossed "Degradable" - but no AS 5810-2010 certification marked in it. How will slapping on green words on materials be regulated? Especially if purchased overseas.
@CleanawayAU@QUT_WasteFree I still visit homes where the liner for their municipal recycling bin is still a plastic bag.. broader communication required. It's not the only option. Line bins with paper, wash out your bin if items leak. No liner needed!
