Today, with support from @UKinKenya through @ELGIA_Africa , CMD-Kenya convened the first day of a 2-day workshop for Implementing Partners of the Kenya Institutional Strengthening Programme - KISP.
Workshop Focus: Harmonizing citizen evidence collected during Phase 1 of KISP.
We reviewed and consolidated priorities gathered through consultative processes across different regions in the country, covering:
1. Fiscal Governance
2. Youth Priorities
3. Community Priorities
4. Women’s Issues
5. Safe and transparent elections
This citizen evidence will be synthesized into issue-based policy briefs to form an evidence base that political parties and formations can tap into to inform their manifesto creation processes.
The goal is clear: establish meaningful consultative frameworks that embed the citizen voice at the heart of policymaking.
CMD-Kenya strongly believes that democracy works best when policies are shaped by the people they are meant to serve. When citizen priorities drive manifestos, we move from rhetoric to results, and from campaigns to accountable governance.
We thank all Implementing Partners for the commitment to ensuring that no voice is left behind.
Today @youthagenda254 is participating in the KISP Partners' Harmonisation Meeting convened by @CMDKenya, bringing together implementing partners to synthesise citizen-generated evidence and policy priorities into practical policy briefs for engagement with political parties.
I wish to report to the House that my office has received a Petition from Ms. Beatrice Waiyaki and others representing the Kiambu County Empowerment Network and the @BungeMashinani Initiative, calling for the strengthening of oversight, transparency, and intergenerational equity in public debt governance.
The Petitioners contend that public debt has emerged as a critical governance challenge with profound implications for Kenya's fiscal sustainability, the delivery of essential services, and the economic prospects of future generations.
They express grave concerns over the escalating debt burden and the attendant risks to the country's long-term development trajectory.
The Petitioners underscore the necessity of robust parliamentary scrutiny over the contracting, management, and reporting of public debt. They aver that such oversight is vital to ensuring that borrowing remains prudent, transparent, and strictly aligned with national strategic priorities, thereby safeguarding public resources.

Contractors under the affordable housing programme are set to earn about Sh86 billion in profits from houses valued at about Sh286 billion.
This means for every Sh100 collected from workers through the housing levy, about Sh30 is going to contractors as profit.
