Sorry for the shameless self-promo, but my first book is out at the end of the month, if anyone fancies reading. You can read the whole of part one on my website to see if you like it.

Blurb is below.
@BladeoftheS Part of his investment portfolio also involves shares in a company that manufactures contraceptive pills, despite being an avowed Christian and anti-abortionist. Another of his companies is set up in Cayman Isles for tax avoidance. What a patriot.
@signal_city @olatu_handia @MatthewStadlen@RishiSunak Talking about natural intelligence in the context of a chat about private schools. One can be forgiven for making that swerve, but sorry if that's not what you meant. Clearly I misunderstood
@signal_city @olatu_handia @MatthewStadlen@RishiSunak I completely agree with you. That is a major motivation for many. Who wouldn't want the best for their child? It's just that most can't afford to, so surely it would make sense to improve the system the majority use to at least try and give every kid a good start in life?
@signal_city @olatu_handia @MatthewStadlen@RishiSunak Also the picture you describe is happening at university level, as you probably know. Why? Because higher education isn't funded properly, like state education. Fund both properly, and you remove the need for foreign money and indeed private school itself.
@signal_city @olatu_handia @MatthewStadlen@RishiSunak So your answer is to make inequality a little less pronounced by widening access to private schools? Doesn't feel like the best thing to do if you're interested in creating a more just society. Perhaps, really, it comes down to whether or not you feel education is a commodity.
@Borissidis89 @jwdunne_dev @RishiSunak Hard working? Making millions by helping sell a Dutch bank riddled with subprime mortgages to RBS, thereby helping to trigger the 2008 collapse. Not hard work. Just a disaster capitalist.
@SheilaEYoung1 @Cyrls_Corner Just another symptom of late stage capitalism. Shift as much of the work onto the labourer (the writer) whilst maximising profits for themselves. Formalise creativity for the purpose of its mass reproduction. Extract value. Reduce risk. That is the mantra.
@jayfoulkes78@Damo_Laws@MarinaPurkiss Had they not, the banks would have gone under, and you and me would be writing with chalk, rather than with phones. It was an existential moment. Not the same as choosing to cut taxes as a favour to your rich friends.
