BREAKING: Theocracy descends on America as Texas makes its first arrest of an abortion provider since Donald Trump's MAGA Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade.

The Christian nationalists are openly celebrating this grim development...

The New York Times reports that a Texas midwife and her employee are now the first known people to be arrested for providing abortion care since the overturn of Roe back in 2022.

The state's far-right Attorney General Ken Paxton — a thoroughly odious man who was investigated for bribery and corruption — stated that Maria Margarita Rojas was operating several clinics near the city of Houston.

"In Texas, life is sacred," stated Paxton. "I will always do everything in my power to protect the unborn, defend our state’s pro-life laws and work to ensure that unlicensed individuals endangering the lives of women by performing illegal abortions are fully prosecuted."

"Dr. Maria," as she is known, was arrested along with Jose Ley and charged with "illegal performance of an abortion," a second degree felony under the state's strict abortion ban. They were also charged with practicing medicine without a license.

They were both held on a $500,000 bond.

"This is, as far as I know, the first allegation that someone in a ban state is providing an abortion in direct violation of abortion laws," Marc Hearron of the Center for Reproductive Rights informed the Times.

This is a direct result of Donald Trump's repeal of Roe. Women all over this country are being denied control of their bodies and those who dare help them are now facing prosecution.

The Trump administration acted in open defiance of a judge’s orders and are laughing about it. The men flown to El Salvador to undergo horrific hard labor conditions MAY or MAY NOT be members of a Venezuelan criminal group. They were sent without vetting. This is illegal and inhumane. Moreover, the electoral process itself, including the popular vote and the Electoral College, is designed to balance different regional interests, as seen in the elections of 1824 and 1876 where outcomes were disputed but ultimately upheld for democratic continuity. Calling for impeachment without just cause undermines the rule of law, which is foundational to democracy. Making America great should encompass respect for due process and judicial independence.

You’re saying a federal judge, James Boasberg, appointed by Obama, sure, but still a district court bigwig, has no juice over the executive branch, and only the Supreme Court does? Cute theory, but that’s not how the sandbox works. Federal judges absolutely can check the executive when it’s stepping on legal toes, see Marbury v. Madison (1803) for the OG receipt. Boasberg didn’t pull his order out of thin air; he ruled the Alien Enemies Act, a 1798 relic, doesn’t apply here because Venezuela’s not at war with us, and deporting 250 plus people without hearings stinks of overreach. He’s not “low-level”, he’s got jurisdiction, and his injunction was binding until the planes conveniently ignored it.

Now, “what President Trump is doing is legal”? That’s a stretch until SCOTUS says so. The executive can’t just sidestep due process or judicial orders because it’s Tuesday and they feel like it, separation of powers, ever heard of it? Trump’s team might argue wartime authority, but they’re banking on an appeal to a higher court, not some instant “SCOTUS-only” trump card. The planes flew anyway, sure, but that’s more “might makes right” than “legal.” Sit tight, buttercup, SCOTUS might get a crack at this yet, but until then, don’t confuse bravado with a gavel.
