@tangotiger@EvanMiya Median 3P% that the player finishes the season at? Isn’t that what you suggest for Soto OBP? Could also take a mean of season lined, weighted mean by PA, or just use the player’s “true talent”. All of which can result in different numbers from the same projection system
@tangotiger@EvanMiya For this convo I’m more interested in the interpretation of rate stats than counting stats. Median vs mean of counting stats is a less interesting discussion
@tangotiger@EvanMiya Suppose a player has a true talent 1/3 (33.3%) chance of making a 3. Their coach lets them shoot until their 3P% is below 40% (min. 10 attempts). Their median 3P% is 30% and not 33.3%. Which would you display as their 3P% projection?
@tangotiger@EvanMiya I actually think there are some interesting details in what .398 means… is it weighted by PA or no? Evan’s 3p% is a true talent projection but it’s possible Soto’s is a season line estimate, which can vary if opportunities are related to the player’s production
The average Brewers starter today is ~6.4 years younger than the average Dodgers starter.
It’s the fourth largest age-gap between starting lineups in Postseason history.
Most recent bigger age gap was Game 1 of the 2012 ALCS
The NLCS Game 1 starting lineups combine for 10 players who are 28 and younger.
Nine of the 10 are on the Milwaukee side.
Andy Pages, 25, is the only Dodgers starter younger than 29.

Lot of people have mentioned that Cleveland broke the *playoff* record for strikeouts in a nine inning game without realizing that no one else has done that in the regular season either!
