@JammerDef@mercenarylong Because if they had legal ways to make money there wouldn't be a need to return to a criminal life and become a repeat offender. If we changed how that system worked and treated prisoners as humans they would become better ppl. Instead of feeling trapped in the life they live
@JammerDef@mercenarylong No it's just slavery with extra steps. I suggest we keep the prisons, but stop using the prisoners for free labor. Instead let them create an economy within the prison and teach the prisoners how to create businesses and such. Teach them actual legal ways to make money.
@JammerDef@mercenarylong I can't magically flip a racially charged conversation to not be about race, and no slavery wasn't "abolished long ago", its still going through several prison systems throughout the world (list of countries in the 2nd screenshot) probably still using false arrests for labor too
