Inexplicably, this year's Ed budget is historically disappointing for South FL schools. How can anyone justify per-student increases of $65.06 and $52.35 for Miami-Dade and Broward, respectively, with significantly higher costs of living, compared to the state average of $101.50?
Again, in case you're wondering, that puts our two counties next to dead last, in per-pupil increase, out of all 67 counties. where's the fairness or equity in this budget for our children and teachers or our taxpayers who disproportionately contribute to the state's coffers?
For those who will argue otherwise, the per-student funding increase ranking, by school district, was lifted directly from the State's published budget documents. If not for Gadsden (67th) and Broward (66th) counties, Miami-Dade would be dead last. Click on charts for full info.
Clarification for those who politicize truth. The increase for @MDCPS is $25M but HB7069 forces $25M transfer of local taxes to charters. https://t.co/iXKj6jOhl7
The challenge w/#HB7069l: it ties good ideas such as some you advocated for to other quite regressive and punitive policies in same bill. https://t.co/vpsczu9nxf
