Dust awakens long enough to snuggle closer under the newly fluffed electric blankets and pass back out in the chill evening air, to the sounds of screaming electronic and horse voices intermingling.
"Ah there they go." She smiles and lays her head dreamily on the counter. "Carry me upstairs, my love? I am much too full of chocolate to ever move again."
"Ah yes. Last year we pulled crackers and wore silly hats. I almost forgot time passed again. How horrific." She pats Matron on the head. "Ah, soon you'll be in the ground, at this rate."
"Do not let her hear you call her that." She says, lowering her voice and ducking inside the window to their room. She shakes off the rain and drops her raincoat unceremoniously down a chute, where it lands in a mysterious hole in the floor and vanishes.
We have built houses for Beauty, and costly shrines,
And a throne in all men's view:

I think of a flower that no eye ever has seen,

Is it no one's joy? It is beautiful as a queen

"Solace. Independence. Perhaps I feel both of them?" She smiles warmly. "Always a help and a pleasure. As if I would prefer time without you. But I can respect it more, the world, the rest, and the silence." She shivers. "The chill in the air is something to be reckoned with."
She perks up. "Ah! Okay." She clears her throat. "A feeling...of being myself, a freedom, if you will." She trails off, thinking. "It is not loneliness. It is as if..I found I am a joy to be around. It is a comfort in being alone, sometimes."
She laughs. "Ah love. What a thought!" She shakes her head. "I was excited to tell you what I had learned. But I wanted to let you come to me, instead of chasing your approval. I respect your idea, for me to learn the comforts of myself..
