BIG NEWS:
Delta has introduced a design that will allow disabled passengers to remain in their wheelchairs onboard.
This is significant because in 2022 alone, airlines in the U.S. mishandled 11,389 wheelchairs.
My wheelchair was badly damaged by @AmericanAir on March 22. They sent a repair technician to collect it on April 22. It was finally returned to me this morning, June 3. The problem: Most of the damage remains! The chair came back with someone else’s seat cushion.
ANNOUNCEMENT:
Food and drink are life-saving medicine for Type 1 diabetics like me. Fruit snacks and juice boxes save my life regularly.
Strictly enforced “no food or drink” policies are discriminatory against diabetics. Refusing to accommodate our disability is unlawful.
@Echo_L@eattherich73@literElly Yep! My boss is very wealthy- 2 million $ houses and a million $ yacht, but getting paid sometimes takes as long as FIVE WEEKS from when I submit an invoice. I'm sure if it were reversed he would never accept that wait time, but if I want this job (I do) I have to...
I would argue that the way that society measures the "success" of an adoption has more to do with compliance than with the wellbeing of the adopted person. Listen carefully to how non-adoptees describe the "happy" adoptees that they know.
Telling a child that you love them, and then telling them they need to be someone else to continue be loved by you, is grooming them.
If a child learns that love costs compliance and they depend on their caregivers’ love, they’ll comply with anything for “love.”
If someone you know is chronically ill/disabled and they don’t work—rest assured, they are not on some fun vacation that you are missing out on. Their full time job is probably taking care of themselves and they wish they could work and be productive like you.
We don't talk enough about how the pretendian debate is focused not on protecting Native spaces from pretendians, but rather, on defending white institutional spaces.
Wait. Everybody stop!
A building in Iowa collapsed yesterday evening—a year and a half after tenants had lodged complaints about the structure and safety.
Right now, families of the tenants are outside begging police to search for their relatives before demolishing the bldg
Someone I know told me I needed to "lose the mask." I asked why they cared if I wore a mask or not?
"What makes you think you're so special that you don't have to get Covid like everybody else?"
This pandemic has weird layers to it. 😐
It's heartbreaking how so many disabled people got better jobs during the pandemic because they didn't have to disclose or ask for accommodations w/ WFH ... and now that Corporate has decided it's back to the office, we're somehow lacking.
But no, they would never discriminate.
I am a radiologist.
I cannot get an appointment at my own institution to see an ophthalmologist or optometrist until mid January 2024. Just loving this US healthcare system.
Today, two Democrats voted with Republicans to say that not only should student debt relief be repealed, not only should the pause on payments end, but that you should make *retroactive* payments from previous months.
Introducing Jared Golden and Marie Gluesenkamp Pérez:
The other day I was getting the bus to my gp practice and the bus driver refused to put the ramp out as there was a pram in the space. I told him the law that I had right of way. He said there was no space and screamed at me so I was nearly in tears. He then let another pram on..
A heart transplant recipient was arrested after a dispute with a neighbor over WiFi. Jail officials refused to let him take his transplant medication for two days. He’d waited 12 years for a heart. His body rejected the heart, and he died.

Me, little black girl from Flint and we haven’t even raised $40k for my filter fund in a week, and are nowhere near my $1M goal after 4 years.
