It’s World Cup month!

Now, there’s been many a World Cup I’ve enjoyed, but whilst England may have exited prematurely, I have to say France ‘98 is my favourite.

The kits, the music, the players, plus I was 13 so we’re talking about my formative years, where memories are made.

I think because I was only 5 during Italia 90, and we failed to qualify for USA 94 (another tournament I loved), England at France 98 felt like my first proper one.

Not sure the clash of cultures is there these days to make post-millennium football the fascinating spectacle it once was.

Back then the mixture pre and post sanitised football made for a more interesting game.
