You could use them for Email, as a search engine, everything.

2. Infoseek, the first popular search engine then WebCrawler which was the first search engine that allowed you to search for any word in any webpage, which is become the standard today.

Then followed by Lycos, then LookSmart, then Altavista.

All before Google got popular as the dominant search engine.
