@TeacherARob I totally agree with you about emailing! I’ve been making connections through email. Kids are sharing things with me about their day, asking me questions about assignments, and letting me know when they’ve completed a late assignment, and they’ve been so polite! I’m loving it!
A8: Thanksgiving will not be typical for our family this year because we won’t all be able to be together. However, I’m hoping we’ll be able to relax with a few family members and our grandkids. #MiddieChat
A5: I talk to my kids. We start class by sharing. I encourage them to have a voice. I ask their opinions and how they’d like to work/learn something days. Went in this together. #MiddieChat
A2: We couldn’t have relationships with our students without empathy. Knowing that we’re on their side, we have their back, but still having high expectations for them makes it all work. #MiddieChat
A1: I’m trying to keep a community with my remote students, even with the challenges we’re facing. Email and Zoom chats have been keeping us connected. #Middiechat
Sharon Cottle, 8th grade ELA, MMS. My family loves my deviled eggs and insists I make them every year. However, I can’t stand deviled eggs and never eat them. #Middiechat
@MMSTeam8_3 We spent some time trying to Escape Before Morning with Edgar Allan Poe. I loved seeing all the engagement! It wasn’t easy, but they stuck with it! #MiddieRising
A7: I give my students choices whenever possible. I ask them to share their opinions. They are able to facilitate class discussions and share or defend their ideas. #MiddieChat
A6: While I feel that I've incorporated a lot of digital elements to my lessons, I'm still learning what works and what doesn't. I've started out with Padlet and Flipgrid, among others. I continue to search for new things to engage my students. #MiddieChat
