Had a p365xl blow up in my hand last year. I had put an aftermarket Icarus grip modual on it which is all metal. I was shooting factory CCI aluminum ammo. I sent the casing to CCI for analysis and here is their findings.....Burton,

I have received your failed case and your ammo.

When I looked to the case, we see an out of battery ring on the casing. This indicates that the firearm fired out of battery. I have attached a photo of the casing above.  You can see above the extractor groove for the casing a clearcut swelled portion of the case. This is the out of battery ring. The measurement on this ring tells me that the round was out of battery by 0.087 inches. An out of battery by as little as 0.012 inches can cause catastrophic firearm failures. Your round is out of battery by over 7 X’s of the 0.012.

I did do a Pressure and Velocity (PV) test on a sample of the ammo you sent in. We were looking for the worst-case scenario. To do this we check weighed the heaviest rounds and performed a PV on those. There were no out of family weights on the rounds checked. The PV testing mirrors the testing done at the time of manufacture and meet product specifications.

I investigated the history of this lot of ammunition. This ammo was made over a year ago and in that time there have been no reported issues on the 100,000-round lot since its release. I also looked to the production QA reports. These also showed no issues at the time of manufacture.

I will be sending you replacement ammo for that which you sent in for analysis. I will be placing the order for 11 boxes to replace those that you sent in. You need to contact the gun manufacturer, Sig/Sauer, and are more than welcome to show them our findings.

@thenewarea51 Don't think it was a missle, at that range no way that motor burns out that fast. I think it's heat from the 20mm projectiles and the gun itself.
