The Gunflint Trail has little to no cell phone service. Our crew has been providing internet and phone service (through wi-fi calling) to helicopter crews who are moving personnel, supplies and equipment to where the #JohnEkFire and #WhelpFire are burning.
Yesterday, at the request of the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources and the U.S. Forest Service, MN-TF1 deployed two personnel and equipment to support incident planning and communications at the John Ek Fire at the end of the Gunflint Trail in northern Minnesota.
@StPaulFireDept Resque Squad 3 Firefighters assigned to @MN_TF1 responded to North Saint Paul to assist local responders with a partial structural collapse today. All occupants of the building were safely evacuated, there were no injuries
This morning, @MinneapolisFire and @StPaulFireDept firefighters, including members of @MN_TF1, rescued a construction worker who became trapped in a collapse at a construction site in downtown Minneapolis. #USAR
Three members of MN-TF1 are in Michigan this week learning advanced trench rescue shoring techniques. The new information they bring back will be shared with fire departments around the region.

MN State Taskforce 1, conducting Emergency Response training on the State Fair grounds. The Team is made up of Firefighters from Saint Paul, Minneapolis, Edina, Dakota County & Rochester. The training incorporates the use of dogs to assist in locating live victims.
