"We are honoured our Founder and Patron has been recognised in the @TIME 100 Sports list.
Thank you to TIME for shining a light on the work of the #InvictusGames Foundation and the extraordinary community behind it.
Sport has the power to change lives and, in some cases, to save them. Through the work of the Invictus Games Foundation, wounded, injured and sick service personnel and veterans rediscover purpose, rebuild confidence and regain a sense of identity.
What began as a belief in the power of sport has grown into a global movement, one that not only supports recovery, but creates community, belonging and hope. It proves every day that sport can restore meaning and, for some, be truly lifeβsaving.
We are proud of this recognition, but most importantly, we are proud of the Invictus Community, whose resilience and determination inspire everything we do.

Yvonne Namaganda was only 10 years old when a fire broke out in the Budo junior school dormitory. Instead of running for her own safety, she chose courage and helped rescue as many fellow students as she could. Sadly, she did not survive.
Today, she would have been 26 years old.
Yvonne deserves to be remembered and celebrated. Wherever you are, your bravery lives on β you are a true hero. β€οΈ
What happened reminded me of one guy I worked with some years back, the guy knocked some people who were on a boda from one of the Bunyoro districts. He attempted to run away (he was in a uniform and was driving a company branded car). He didn't run to any nearest police station, he thought he could drive out of that town but the boda bodas sent words to the nearby trading centers, they set a roadblock in about two trading centers and blocked him, they stoned the car , stoned him to death, burnt him beyond recognition and burnt the car. The people he knocked did not die just sustained a few bruises.
When we went to bury him in Budibugyo, his father never cried (the guy was the breadwinner of their family). When we came back, after three weeks everyone who was involved in the murder of the guy all died mysteriously, till almost an entire sub county was wiped out completely, the elders there had to reach out to our company then to get hold of the relatives of the deceased.
I would love for something similar to happen by the end of next week.
The demise of Sydney weighs heavily on my heart daily. I often wish I had the opportunity to put a stop to the senseless actions of those involved. It's a tragic and heartbreaking incident; the family's pain must be indescribable. My thoughts are with his partner and young ones. ππΎππΎππΎ
May Sydney Gongodyo's soul find eternal peace. Naye Some of us are heartless. ππΎ
NBS or NTV should do a frame by frame analysis of all the videos of Sydney being beaten so that the public can identify all these killers and they get fished out.
If someone at work tries to micromanage you, micromanage them back.
Send them too much feedback, ask them a lot of questions, do follow ups when they go quiet or even when you know they are busy donβt let them rest.
I didn't know Sydney Gongodyo personally, but I know what it means to watch a young man pour everything into something he loves. With all I have seen here over the last few days, and funeral proceedings on @NBSportUg, Sydney gave everything to rugby, to his family, to his motherland.
And now he is buried at just 27! We must do better than this. As a society. As neighbours. As human beings.
Rest in peace, Sydney. Justice must follow you home.
My condolences to his family, our @nextradio_ug partners at @piratesrugbyUG, and the entire @UgandaRugby fraternity.
. @KawalaRachael "Two additional suspects have been arrested in connection with the death of Sydney Gongodyo, a professional rugby player, following an incident that occurred on 5 June 2026.
The suspects have been identified as Mugwiisa Obed and Owino Joseph, a security guard. Mugwiisa Obed was captured in video footage wearing a yellow T-shirt and carrying a large log during the incident. During interrogation, he led investigators to a local laundry (dobbi) where he had taken the yellow T-shirt he was seen wearing on the day of the attack. The garment was subsequently recovered as part of the ongoing investigations.
Their arrest brings the total number of suspects currently in custody to ten (10) as investigations into the alleged mob killing continue.
Efforts are ongoing to identify, trace, and apprehend other individuals believed to have participated in the incident.
We remain committed to ensuring that all those responsible for this criminal act are held accountable and brought to justice in accordance with the law.
Further updates will be provided as investigations progress.
My former headmaster, Dr. Peregrine Kibuuka (may he continue to rest in peace), often reminded us:
"You may commit an offence as a group but, when I send you home, there comes a moment when you step out of the taxi and walk that lonely road by yourself".
It was his way of teaching us that while actions may be taken collectively, consequences are ultimately borne individually. The crowd may share the decision, but accountability always finds your doorstep alone.
On Heroes Day, perhaps letβs not end at celebrating our heroes but also for each one of us to ask ourselves: Whom have I been a hero to this year? Whose life have I touched, saved or lifted? Have I participated in bringing down someone who is trying to uplift others?

83-year-old Polly Ouma, former Uganda Cranes captain and Simba FC striker passed away in December 2025. He captained the national team from 1972 to 1974.
18-year-old Maxine Modesta Anyango, a rising star for the Junior Gazelles national team & St Noa Girls Secondary School, tragically died in May 2026.
26-year-old former She Corporate FC captain and star midfielder Cissy Nantongo died on June 3, 2026, after a silent but brave battle with cancer.
27-year-old Rugby Cranes forward & Pirates player, Sydney Gongodyo died June 5, 2026, following a violent mob attack.
They were all servants of this nation.
We all know that this regime doesn't give a rat's ass about sport & it's why the sporting fraternity mourns its sons and daughters with little or no sympathy from the regime.
Seeing as tomorrow is Heroes' Day, would it be such a bad thing to honour some of these men and women who flew the Ugandan flag? Would it be such a bad thing to mention and pay tribute to these gallant men and women who carried the hopes & dreams of the nation with them through sport?
A former boda boda rider at MM Pub, Kabuusu, Lubaga, sold his bike (when he heard me say that coffee growing gave better returns than the motor bike) and started a three-acre farm in Bukomansimbi. His farm grew to 17 acres by the time I visited him. He lives decently by any account.
A well-looked after acre of coffee yields at least 800,000/- per month. #WorkAndProsper
Big day for the @UgandaMediaCent team!
We joined forces with the Presidential Press Unit at State House to photograph Ugandaβs new cabinet β and the results are exceptional.
Massive congratulations to lead photographer Joel Zimbe, his deputy Sharif Nsimbe, and the incredible Ramlah Kakumba β a 20-year-old intern whose dedication and talent shone throughout.
@AbuMwesigwa and your team, thank you.
Grateful for the PPUβs collaboration and long may we work together.
We build Uganda together!
