Sulaiman Mugalasi is a technology executive in Uganda with over 13 years work experience, currently serving as Head of Information Technology, CIO at Airtel Mobile Commerce (Airtel Money). In this role, he guides the platform’s digital strategy and infrastructure, enabling secure, scalable mobile financial services for millions.
Before joining Airtel, he held several senior IT roles in the banking industry: he was Head of IT and Senior Manager Systems Architect at KCB Bank Uganda, where he led different teams to drive innovation and support the bank’s digital growth.
Prior to that, he worked at dfcu Bank as Manager of Innovation & Digital Transformation and Manager of Applications & IT Services. Early in his career, he also held leadership roles at Quintica Kenya (Group IT Manager) and worked in network engineering at Smile Communications and Adtel Communications.
Sulaiman is pursuing an MBA in Leadership and Entrepreneurship, holds a BSc in Information Technology and a Diploma in Computer Engineering. He also holds a range of industry certifications, including MDP, CCNP, MCSE, MCSA, ITIL, PRINCE and WAN Optimisation credentials.
He has been instrumental in rolling out digital banking innovations, including mobile and agent banking platforms, and has championed modernisation efforts across both telecom and financial institutions.
His achievements reflect a strong track record of driving digital transformation, product development, building resilient, Stable and Secure IT systems, and promoting financial inclusion through technology and People.
