@Kunta_Kinte786 A reciter who 1) acknowledges the existence of the maqamat and inevitability of reciting according to one to some extent, and 2) doesn’t purposely recite just to fit the paradigm of a maqām, but rather to suit the verses and context, is as good as it gets

Our beloved shaykh Hassan Khalifah, may Allah protect and preserve him, reciting from Surah Furqan

His switch from the melodic mode of Nahawand/‘Ajam, to the mode of Saba’ based on the context of the verses and it’s mention of Jahannam therein is pure mastery
