■Distancing herself from Feroz Khan:

"We didn't even greet the host," she said, using the remark to illustrate that they were allegedly not close.

■Denied having an improper relationship with Khan or giving him preferential treatment.

■Denied tipping Khan off about complaints or investigations involving him.

■Denied interfering in investigative processes, maintaining that investigators worked independently.

■Initially denied having the authority to overrule an arrest, insisting that arrests are purely a police function.

■Later #conceded that she can, in appropriate circumstances, direct that an arrest should not proceed or that a suspect be warned to appear in court instead.

Today's testimony was marked by repeated #attempts to distance herself from key people, #decisions and #processes, while some important concessions only emerged under sustained questioning.

A recurring theme was her attempt to portray herself as having very limited #authority.

She repeatedly referred to decisions being made by "the team", creating the impression that her role was largely administrative.

At one point, Justice Madlanga himself asked:

"Which provision of the Act prescribes that?" questioning the basis for her repeated reliance on a "team" making decisions.

The impression she sought to convey was that she was there to endorse or implement decisions made by OTHERS rather than exercise independent authority.
