Yesterday, Ghaazee School hosted the Hydroponic Produce Harvest Event, celebrating lettuce & Chinese cabbage grown through the Ministry's hydroponics system.
The program ran from 22 April–21 May 2026, yielding 160 plants. The ceremony showcased students' hands-on learning in sustainable agriculture.
38 participants received completion certificates. Minister of State Ahmed Hassan Didi officiated.
Minister @Shiyamaldives had a productive meeting with Members of the European Parliament on the sidelines of the Indian Ocean Tuna Commission's (IOTC) 30th Session.
Discussions centred on strengthening bilateral relations between the Maldives and the European Union, identifying mechanisms to remove barriers to trade, attracting EU investment into the Maldives, and replicating the Maldives' success in sustainable fisheries management across the Indian Ocean region.
Minister @Shiyamaldives met with Tirgay Turkyilmaz, Director General of the Directorate of Fisheries and Aquaculture under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry of Türkiye.
During the meeting, Mr. Turkyilmaz conveyed a special message from the Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, İbrahim Yumaklı, regarding enhanced collaboration in fisheries and agricultural development in the Maldives.
The discussions highlighted the close and longstanding relationship between the two countries, as well as the mutual willingness to strengthen cooperation and partnership in advancing the development priorities of the countries.

Minister @Shiyamaldives met with Mr. Ibrahim Shabau, the newly appointed Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture at Maldives National University.
Discussions focused on strengthening agricultural education and adaptive research to enhance local food production, with particular emphasis on technology-driven and climate-smart agricultural practices. Both the Minister and the Dean highlighted the importance of advancing national agricultural education and expressed appreciation to H.E. President Mohamed Muizzu for his visionary leadership in establishing the Faculty of Agriculture at the national university.
