@RaquelMTeaches I've thought a lot about how much church shaped my reading skills. From sermons to hymns to the KJV. And not just allusions, but vocab, figurative language, and literary devices. The church really did shape so much of Western literature.

@MicahPollak @gbosslet @aneerbas I have a 4 year old who turns 5 Sept. 9. She'll start kindergarten Sept. 1. Should we wait to get the bigger dose in Sept. or get the 4 year old dose now? @AhabLives Is this book really about butter? Bc I could like that! When I was pregnant with my 2nd I had butter cravings and she seriously still samples butter like it's a fine wine. Andshe has opinions. The Irish butter I got for St. Patty's Day was ok, but needed more flavor. 🤣

So true! I'm indebted to an AP English group at the beginning of my career for teaching me strategies to do this. Reading/writing is sometimes assigned rather than taught & that's due to how teachers are trained. That was definitely my experience as a HS student. Needs to change.
