@jonmedeiros This would be an interesting pairing with the Hendrix version. Sufjan Steven's version performed during the Iraq War (he adds his own lyrics halfway through): https://t.co/r38f9XHK8J
@dst6n01 This is so true! I taught my students how to annotate in a way that helped me understand how they struggled to understand passages and helped me so much as a teacher since reading had come so easily to me.
@RaquelMTeaches I've thought a lot about how much church shaped my reading skills. From sermons to hymns to the KJV. And not just allusions, but vocab, figurative language, and literary devices. The church really did shape so much of Western literature.
Michigan Governor Debate Fact Check:
Tudor Dixon said that schools were shut down for two years under Whitmer. This is untrue. Whitmer's order lasted for just the second half of the 2019-20 school year.
@MicahPollak@gbosslet@aneerbas I have a 4 year old who turns 5 Sept. 9. She'll start kindergarten Sept. 1. Should we wait to get the bigger dose in Sept. or get the 4 year old dose now? FWIW we don't have many indoor plans this summer and she is fine with masking. She hasn't had covid yet that we know. Thanks!
@AhabLives Is this book really about butter? Bc I could like that! When I was pregnant with my 2nd I had butter cravings and she seriously still samples butter like it's a fine wine. Andshe has opinions. The Irish butter I got for St. Patty's Day was ok, but needed more flavor. 🤣
@biblio_phile Here is some data. Teaching has always had a huge turnover and the shortages in my state are especially felt because so few college students majored in education in the last decade. https://t.co/ERPpurYMT2.
@BlasterOfArt There is a Facebook group about this program with really helpful information. Especially if you can't get signatures years later or have other challenges. Good luck!
@pernilleripp And a Pinterest board where I keep random articles/ideas that connect to the American Dream (but may have only made sense to me at the time!) https://t.co/QmCMmURRon
@pernilleripp I have a whole American Dream themed curriculum that I've written for AP Lang juniors. It seems like you teach middle school (?), so I'll share a few things that might work https://t.co/yCMKJwxF12
So true! I'm indebted to an AP English group at the beginning of my career for teaching me strategies to do this. Reading/writing is sometimes assigned rather than taught & that's due to how teachers are trained. That was definitely my experience as a HS student. Needs to change.
@yepitslancaster I teach at Springs Valley (the school district in French Lick). There was a ton of local excitement over this question! The clue probably would've been easier if they had just mentioned Larry Bird!
