There is a scene in the movie Big Short, where a guy, to verify if there is indeed a Housing bubble in the US, visits a strip club. And he finds out that the stripper there has three houses, all bought on loan.
It is there he realizes there is a massive bubble in Housing and collapse is inevitable. So he shorts everthing and makes truckloads of money.
But This post is not about Big Short. This is about something closer home.
Last week, I had posted my review of BMCM and its producer Vashu Bhagnani. He has such an awesome track record of losing that he gives an inferiority complex to Pakistani generals.
His last 23 movies have been absolute disasters. And not ordinary disasters but actual career annihilators of anyone associated with them.
In fact One movie was so bad, that Even Netflix refused to stream it, inspite of paying for it. And when Netflix India refuses to stream a movie because of quality issues, you know you have hit rock bottom.
To summarize, when the Joker burned that stash of Gotham city cash, he lost less money than Vashu Bhagnani.
Now under ideal circumstances, if he had a listed company, it should be valued close to zero or actual zero right?
Wrong.
Some alert and smart people pointed out that, In the last three years the stock has gone from Rs 12 to Rs 400 before crashing like BMCM, to the current price of Rs 314.
That company has a TO of 58 Cr, Profit of Rs 8 cr, No cash flow from operating activities, Zero Net Cash flow in FY 23 and FY 24 and Cash reserves of 43 cr.
And what is the company valued at today.
Rs 1100 cr.
How in a rational market can a company, which isn't generating any cash flow, has a profit which is less than the cost of Tiger Shroff's steroid supplements and made Bade Miyan Chote miyan, be valued so high?
Or like the movie Big Short, this is a sign for something bigger?
Doing a PPP memecoin experiment that might or might not involve airdrops.
