The Ministry of Health and Child Care has rolled out Obstetric Fistula awareness training for community based health workers in Masvingo, Midlands, Matabeleland North and South Provinces. This training, will capacitate Village Health Workers (VHWs) to screen for obstetric fistula, identify women living with the condition and link them to free repair camps while upholding confidentiality and shunning stigma.
Though 99 percent preventable, obstetric Fistula is an abnormal opening between the birth canal and the bladder and/or rectum caused by prolonged, obstructed labour without timely medical care, resulting in continuous leakage of urine and/or stool through the vagina. It remains a public health problem that mostly affects women in hard-to-reach, poor and marginalized communities.

This document establishes a standardised, evidence based and survivor centered framework to ensure every survivor regardless of gender or background receives timely, professional, compassionate and dignified care across the entire national healthcare system. Recognising that sexual violence is a critical public health, human rights and development issue, the guidelines reinforce core principles of confidentiality, informed consent and non discrimination. #HealthForAll
Zimbabwe and Cuba are celebrating 40 years of a Health partnership focused on building local capacity and long-term sustainability. The bilateral agreement has seen over 1,000 Zimbabwean medical professionals trained in Cuba and 14 Cuban Medical Brigades deployed to provide critical specialist care across all 10 provinces, including rural areas. Moving forward, @MoHCCZim Minister Hon. Dr. Douglas Mombeshora, said the plan is to deepen this cooperation to tackle non-communicable diseases, expand postgraduate specialist training in areas like pathology and establish joint ventures in pharmaceutical manufacturing and biotechnology. #HealthForAll

We are delighted to announce that (two) multi energy radiotherapy machines are now in the country and that they will soon be deployed to Mpilo Central Hospital (MCH), and Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals (PGH) respectively. This follows the recent acquisition of (two) low energy machines which are currently being installed at both facilities. These acquisitions are clear indications of the Government of Zimbabwe's commitment to investing in a healthy population.
Government through the MoHCC are also in the process of procuring CT scans and MRI scans among other requirements.

The Minister of Health and Child Care, Hon. Dr Douglas T. Mombeshora, yesterday assured Zimbabweans that Government remains on high alert for Ebola despite not recording any case. He emphasised that as part of the Ministry’s response mechanisms, one thousand health professionals have so far been retrained in infection, prevention and control (IPC), whilst several facilities across the country stand ready to manage any suspected cases which may arise.
Dr Mombeshora informed that, whilst all people travelling in and out of the country will be monitored at the country's points of entry, special attention will be given to truck drivers that will be travelling from the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
Ebola is a haemorrhagic fever which causes bleeding through various orifices such as the nose, mouth and eyes.
Early symptoms include fever, headache, abdominal pains and respiratory symptoms.

@MoHCCZiM Minister Hon. Dr. D. Mombeshora yesterday addressed a press conference on Ebola preparedness and drug and substance abuse. He confirmed that Zimbabwe has no reported Ebola cases but remains on high alert due to the regional outbreak. ● We managed to provide clear recommendations to the 79th World Health Assembly and the 159th Executive board meeting including on matters related to the Financing and Implementation of the Programme Budget, Human Resources, audit, compliance and evaluation matters.
● That they reached consensus on key issues for the consideration of the Health Assembly, including, the draft amended decision on the reform of the global health architecture and the UN80 initiative.
●Further, we agreed to recommend that the EB159 adopt the draft decision on future modalities of the governance reform pilot.

Zimbabwe welcomes home three of its dedicated Zimbabwean healthcare workers from the Ascension Island.
Following international health protocols, these individuals were identified as contacts of a confirmed Hantavirus case during their time abroad. While they are currently healthy, the MoHCC taking every scientific precaution to ensure their well-being and yours. Further, the ministry through Port Health Services (PHS), has undertaken a risk assessment and has already established the underlisted precautionary measures;
1. The travellers will undergo screening and assessment by PHS upon arrival at RGMIA.
2. The individuals will remain under active monitoring for symptoms associated with hantavirus infection during the recommended observation period of 45 days.
3. Appropriate infection prevention and control measures will be implemented throughout the transfer and monitoring process.
4. Arrangements are being made for the travellers to remain together in a designated private isolation facility during the quarantine period.
