Said it a month ago and people assume that "weak" means the games are bad. Many of the games this year have been great.
A weak year just means we have very few locks.
Ask 10 people and all 10 will have 6 different nominees. It's a weak year for GOTY.
I can't see this getting any higher than an 82 and this won't be anywhere near Game of the Year.
Was hyped a few months ago, but everything since then has just looked pretty bland. Marvel fans will play it and enjoy but I think this will be mid.

Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy Review.
Asobo Studio's attempt at a more combat-focused game really fell flat for me.
Forced conflict and later chapters turn an otherwise engaging story into a slog, and despite a well-crafted world, this adventure has more misses than hits.
I think it's sitting exactly where it needs to with critics.
The world is beautiful. The facial animations and mocap paired with a great score really make the entire experience cinematic, but the gameplay is very weak.
Combat is mechanical, the skill tree is lacking, the "stealth" in the latter half of the game is so overused with the creature and I just was so frustrated with the story. It's a great plot, but there's so many pacing issues and plot holes with decisions that are made not because they make sense, but because they have to get to the ending and experience the devs want. Very little feels earned.
I like how the story ended, but I do not like how we got there. 7/10 is fair.

Quick thoughts before a proper review:
This game makes me want to play the other two in the series because of the graphics and world, but I'm even more excited to play it because it will NOT have the same combat.
Combat in this game was serviceable at best, miserable at worst. Camera problems, animations that didn't seem linked up, a feeling of "floating" around.
The back half of the game was an absolute slog. VERY cool story, but my god the gameplay was tough to get through at times. It reminded me of Directive 8020: when you realized that the enemies were a constant annoyance that you had to slowly deal with, it turned the game from a thrilling adventure to an annoying test of patience.
Will collect my thoughts for a full review tomorrow, but overall, this is a fantastic Game Pass game. At roughly 10.5 hours, it's well worth the price of a monthly subscription if you play other games, but I would have been sorely disappointed if I had paid the full $50 for this game.

A small part of me had hoped that at least one of the games releasing in September was going to suck so I didn't get FOMO'd into playing it.
