Wow.

Retired Saudy led MTCC has issued an outrageous internal memo requiring staff to get HR approval before travelling out of Male’ from now on, even during weekends and public holidays.

This is a blatant attempt to control employees’ personal lives. What people do on their own time is none of MTCC’s business. Outside working hours, the company has absolutely no right, legal or moral, to dictate where staff go.

Many of them are already flexible with annual leave, often agreeing to work if needed even during that time. Now, on top of that, being told to seek permission for personal travel is unacceptable.

To make matters worse, when concerns were raised in the office group and some of them reacted in agreement, a few were told to remove their likes because “the SGM would be checking who reacted.”

This is called intimidation. They have every right to express concern about policies that affect their PERSONAL lives.
